24 Gulf Pine Catholic • July 11, 2025 During the 2024-25 school year the Altar Society of Sacred Hart Catholic Church, Hattiesburg, met monthly with the second class of the Sacred Hart Junior Altar Society which consisted of six girls from Theresa Moore’s sixth grade Religion class at Sacred Heart Catholic School. During the monthly meetings, the girls learned about proper names and care related to the altar, all about prayer candles, how to care for the altar linens, liturgical vestments, seasons and colors and how to care for the Holy Water fonts and receptacle, including a hands-on class. The seventh grade Junior Altar Society assisted the Religion teachers Issy Reusch and Phyliss Lee, in setting up for the Sacred Heart High School Masses and Adoration, served as greeters for the Masses and managed the care of the Holy Water fonts at the High School Chapel during the 2024-25 school year. The last meeting of the school year was a Tea Party hosted by the Sacred Heart Altar Society for both the sixth grade and seventh grade Junior Altar Society (the first class of the Sacred Heart Junior Altar Society (2023-24). Altar Server recognition ceremony at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Pass Christian Each year, we take the opportunity to express our gratitude to the youth who volunteer to serve at the Table of our Lord. St. Joseph Chapel, Pearlington, presents a check to The King’s Kitchen Liz Matthis, a parishioner from St. Joseph Chapel in Pearlington, presented a check for $300 to The King’s Kitchen in Waveland on May 23.
