My sister’s and I have always taken trips, but never without Mama – when she was able. We always included her because we knew that she enjoyed travel ing. She loved traveling to different destinations and seeing all the sights. Our mother passed away last year. She made her final trip on December 31, 2020, to be with her Lord and her family that had traveled on be fore her. My sisters and I decided to do a down memory lane trip this spring, on or around Mama’s birthday, to honor her. We chose to go to Savannah, Georgia be cause that is the last place we visited with her, before she got too feeble to travel. So, we rented a twelvepassenger van, loaded our luggage for eight people (this time we had nieces), and we set our sights on Savannah. We had the time of our lives. We talked and laughed, until our stomachs hurt, the entire way up and the entire way back. We did a lot of reminiscing about Mama – how she would so enjoy this trip. But I’m sure that this trip was nothing in comparison to the final trip that she took last year. She certainly has oneupped us on that trip. We spent our time walking the parks of Savan nah, just like we did with Mama, a few years back. We took a carriage ride, just like we did with Mama. We went to different eateries and restaurants, just like we did with Mama. Speaking of restaurants…. We took Mama to Paula Deen’s restaurant while on our travels with her and she let us know right fast like that she did not appreciate Paula Deen’s at all. www.southernsenior.info 7 Girl’s Trip by Carolyn J.
