16 SOUTHERN SENIOR MAGAZINE | Summer 2021 MY HERO By Ronald Tessuor When a man risks his own life, to save someone who’s in danger, He’s rightly called a hero, whether that person is a friend or just a stranger. Self-preservation is very difficult to overcome, of this you can depend, That’s why there is no greater gift, than to sacrifice one’s own life, for a friend. Like many others I too was once in mortal danger, wallowing in the gutter, I floundered through life’s turbulent waters, without as much as a rudder. Going with the flow of life just seemed so very cool, It was easier than saying no to temptation, and being thought of as a fool. I didn’t give my soul much thought; I was too busy with life’s desires, I never even realized that I was headed towards eternity, in hell’s un- quenchable fires. I was blind, being led by the blind, headed for the pit, On my own I could do nothing to stop this, I was not strong enough to quit. But I too have a hero, who sacrificed His life to save my soul, His name is Jesus Christ, and He welcomed me into His fold. When Jesus voluntarily died upon the cross, it was not for just a few, He atoned for all the sin of mankind, including me and you. Accept Jesus as your savior, and with your sinful life abort, You should stop drifting with the current and head for your home port. • Affordable Cost of Living • Low Taxes • Low Crime Rate • Quality Medical Care • Recreation • Educational & Cultural Opportunities • A Warm, Welcoming Community Come Home PICAYUNE to a place called 1 of Mississippi’s only 20 Certified Retirement Cities
