www.southernsenior.info 15 Dear Diary, Hi there. It's me, Emma. They say that after a while, owners and their pets start to act and look alike. Well, I have a pet human and I don’t think she’s much like me at all. For one thing, she’s a talker, and she talks to everything. She talks to people, she talks to the mirror, she talks to me, she talks to herself, she talks to the computer, she talks to the telephone, and when all else fails, she turns on the TV and watches while other people talk. I don't get it. Cat conversation is much more sophisticated and we cats communicate very well with a few sounds and a lot of body language. Honestly, all that chatter gives me a headache. My human cannot purr, although her snoring runs a close sec- ond. I don’t like to be in the same room with snoring. And then there’s singing. My pet sings in a high, loud voice. Ac- tually, I’m not sure it’s really singing because she sounds like she’s calling me for dinner from the field behind the house…far away behind the house. Let me tell you something. If I sat on a fence and sang like that, she would call it “caterwauling” and would throw an old shoe at me. (Go ahead, Dear Diary, ask me how I know about sitting on fences and dodging flying shoes.) I’m sorry. I must be in a grumpy mood. My human and I have been self-quarantined at home since forever and with all that singing and talking, I now have a migraine. I’ll be glad when this coronavirus-thing is over. By LindaAnne Stanley Author Owners & Pets A Few Purrs, Emma S
