In Loving Memory of Vanessa Ashley Marie Cly January 20, 2004 – May 13, 2022 Vanessa Ashley Marie Cly, age 18, a resident of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022. She was born on January 20, 2004, in Needles, California. Vanessa was a student. She enjoyed beading with the Fort Mojave Tribe, going to the river, and hanging out with her friends and family. She was lov- ing, happy and always with a sweet smile. She was preceded in death by Dorothy McCord; Darryll Bear; and Donna Vanderbilt. Vanessa is survived by her father, Patrick Cly, Sr. of Needles, California; mother, Ashley Ornelas of Hesperia, California; three brothers, Damian Cly of Phoenix, Arizona, Patrick Cly Jr. and Kaiden Cly, both of Needles, California; and grandmother, Patricia McCord of Needles, California. In Loving Memory of Alicia Angelita Miller February 13, 1973 - May 18, 2022 Alicia Angelita Miller passed away peacefully on May 18, 2022, in Scottsdale, AZ. Alicia was born February 13, 1973, in Yuma, AZ, to Michael Miguel and Hortense Polk Miguel. She is of the Polk, Escalanti, Carr, and Pasqual family on her maternal side and the Miguel family on her paternal side. She was married for over 23 years to her husband, George Miller, from Bloomfield, NM. Alicia was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and aunt. She graduated in 1991 from San Pasqual High School in Winterhaven, CA. Later she completed her Associate in Paralegal Studies from Metropolitan College in Phoenix, AZ. While attending school, she worked full- time as an HR assistant with the Quechan tribe, then as a Gaming Inspector/investigator, Compliance Officer, and Assistant Chief Gaming Inspector for Quechan Gaming. She also worked for Gila River Gaming as an Inspector and Compliance Officer. After earning her Associate's, she began her career as a Legal Assistant for Maricopa County. She also started a business pro- viding Scarves for elders, so they would not have to travel far to use them in tribal rites and celebrations. She also made beaded accessories for women. She enjoyed traveling, watching ballets, sharing, and telling stories, and listening to many types of music such as intertribal pow-wow, bird singing, Motown, and 80's pop, just to name a few. She is survived by her husband, George Miller, her mother Hortense Polk Miguel of Winterhaven, CA, her father Michael Miguel of Somerton, AZ, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces. She is preceded in death by (Maternal side) her Grandmother Lucinda Escalanti Polk Smith, Grandfather Raphael Polk Sr., and Cousin Anthony Polk Villa, (Paternal side) Nellie (Sexsmith) Miguel, Jefferson Miguel Jr., and Cousin Kismet Sanchez. Memorial services were held at Yuma Mortuary on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Family viewing, public viewing and services started at 2:00 PM. Quechan Tribal Rites began at 9:00 PM Saturday and ended with Cremation at 5:00 AM Sunday at the Quechan Big House. Pallbearers were Xavier Osborne, Manuel Villa, Randy Moody, Eric Johnson, Leroy Gashwazra Jr, Quentin Escalanti, Madera Holstein Sr, Claude Thundercloud, and Frederick Miller.
