Resolution # 221-21 A Resolution to Approve a Research Proposal from Jeffery Burgess, MD, through the University of Arizona and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to con- duct the Arizona Healthcare, Emergency Response, and Other Essential Workers Surveillance (AZ HEROES) Study within the Colorado River Indian Reservation. Due to the fact that there is a critical need to understand the SARS CoV-2/COVID-19 disease transmission, infec- tion and re-infection rates, risk factors, protective factors and differences between symptomatic and asymptomatic spread among individuals in Arizona Tribal Communities; the focus of the proposed AZ HEROES Study will be on understanding disease transmission, infection/re-infection rates, helping develop protective practices among healthcare personnel, first responders, patients and other essential workers within Arizona Tribal communities who are most at risk for expo- sure to the SARS CoV-2 virus and COVID19 illness, and helping to establish patterns of serologic (blood) immuni- ty over time. Resolution #222-21 A Resolution to Approve Amendments to the Work Plan and Memorandum of Agreement between the Colorado River Indian Tribes and the U.S. Geological Survey for its Rouse Formation Study Research Proposal. On November 11,2019, the Tribes entered into a Memorandum of Agreement authorizing researchers from the United States Geological Survey (“USGS’) to Conduct certain scientific investigations, including mapping, sam- pling and gravity surveys of the Rouse Formation near the Mesquite Mountain area of the Colorado River Indian Reservation; and the USGS has determined that BY con- ducting an Aeromagnetic Survey of Reservation land, additional and significant information will be learned about regional fault systems that are believed to extend through the Bouse Formation below ground surface with- in the Reservation area, but which are not yet confirmed to exist. The foregoing resolution was duly approved on July 18, 2021, by a vote of 7 for 0 against and 0 abstaining. Resolution #223-21 A Resolution to Approve Research Proposals from Samantha Sabo, Dr, of Public Health, Northern Arizona University, and Dr. Sairam Parthasarathy, Arizona Community Engaged Alliance Against COVID-19 Disparities (CEAL), University of Arizona, to Conduct joint research and outreach projects focused on COVID-19 within the Colorado River Indian Reservation. The goal of the proposed research project is to enhance trust in COVID-19 medical guidance and treatments, pro- mote engagement within the CRIT community through focus groups and surveys to assess awareness, experi- ences, concerns, attitudes, needs, knowledge, and miscon- ceptions regarding COVID-19 testing, and promote inclu- sion of diverse Racial and ethnic populations in clinical tri- als. The research project will support these goals by devel- oping and adapting culturally appropriate education materials and strategies designed to increase awareness of, and participation in current COVID-19 vaccine trials, as well as promoting more equitable health outcomes within the CRIT and other Tribal communities through inclusion and participation in future vaccine development and dis- tribution efforts.
