Page 5 Councilwoman Jaymee Moore From the Office of Council Woman Moore 2021 has been a challenging year thus far. Unprecedented challenges from the corona virus pan- demic, to economic development, to environmental impacts and long overdue infrastructure are upon us. I will continually work diligently to bring myself up to speed on issues, processes and endeavors of the CRIT Community. The Tribal Council is currently aware of the constant challenges that face our community when it comes to water, human resources, enterprise management and development, passing the 2021 fiscal year budget. Priorities: • Passing the FY 2021 Budget • Hiring Human Resources Director • Strategic Planning of the American Rescue Funds To overcome these challenges, we need to communicate clearly, honestly and transparently with the CRIT mem- bership. Tribal Departments & Enterprises: Thank you, for your continuous hard work. We have major staff shortages at all areas of employment including entry level, middle management and director positions. Leadership amongst our employees surfaces daily when it comes to developing employee skills, working collaboratively and meeting goals and objectives. Also, congratulations to all the departments who have been awarded grants throughout the year thus far. Students: Congratulations, to the Class of 2021! I am so proud of your efforts that you have put in your school work all throughout the year and the pandemic. The CRIT community shares your excitement on your graduation, may you all continue to strive and be rewarded with success. To all the students returning back to the classroom continue to take up space and believe in yourself. Our community has so many needs and education is a tool for our community to become more self-suffi- cient. Thank you, again for the opportunity to serve. I will work earnestly every day keep- ing you and your families in mind. Thank you, to the front-line workers and essen- tial workers who have risked their own health and the health of their families to keep us safe and our tribe moving forward. Most Importantly, protect yourself, your fam- ily and the CRIT Community by wearing a mask & getting vaccinated. Asquali. I have sat in on all Special Tribal Council sessions, Resource Development Committee mtgs, Utility sessions, Administration Committee mtgs, CRRMC sessions, and the Regular Tribal Council meetings. I believe as a Council we should single out some areas of concern and areas that we should potentially benefit from. The Human Resource office is a focused area I talked about during the campaign. The most significant concern is not having a Human Resource Director. As of today, there are four applicants that are yet to be interviewed and recommend. As I discuss this concern in Tribal Council meetings, my solution is to temporally hire previous HR employees. In particular, previous Tribal Members that have worked for our HR Dept and understand the process. As of today, we have several background checks in progress for directors at the Casino, Dept of Health & Social Services, and the Police Chief. We have hired a new farm manager named Joshua Moore (TM), who has completed several presentations that makes me extremely hopeful for our Farms. We have in motion to advertise the Environmental Director, Build & Safety Director, and the Building Materials Director. We are estimating about 20 plus hires within the past months. I know this is not a satisfactory allotment of hires, but I will say that we are hustling to get more qualified and level entry positions hired quickly. Some notes: We hired a consultant named Frederick Ench to find funds for a new Poston Substation (Fire, PD, F&G, and EPO), a new Headstart, and a Dialysis center. We are currently under construction at the CRIT Dispatch Center with installing a 911 system that will serve our Reservation. This will help shorten the arrival times of the emergency workers to handle calls quickly. This project is slated to be oper- ating around October 2021. In other business, we have completed some reassignment of lands, approved agri- cultural leases, and approved a standard policy for new homeowners with the Realty Office. This will provide a process for all CRIT members seeking lands available to build a new home, placement of a modular home, or buying a home within the reser- vation. There are many unfinished projects that need special attention and finalization; a new well(s) system, a list of homeowners awaiting septic tanks to be completed, passing of the budgets, minimum wage addressing, and many more tasks to be taken care of. In closing, it is my sincerest expectation to stay focused on the priorities of our Tribe; Jobs, Housing, Education, Public Safety, Medical Services, and Economic prosperity. I accept any call, email, personal visits, and social media messaging. Below you will find my contact information if you need to reach me. Respectfully, Josephine J.
