Current concerns is the future of this reservation. The Tribes currently own and operate a large Business Enterprise but need experienced management to oversee its enterprises such as Running Man 1 & 2; Aha Quin; Villa Shores; Wheeler Inn; Sandy's Trailer Park located in the Poston area; Bermuda Palms; Blue Water RV Park; Colorado River Building and Material; CRIT Sand and Rock; Kofa Inn; Water Wheel; Plaza; CRIT Airport; CRIT Theatre and Arcade; Big Riv.er Development (BRDE)- Water/Lease; Four (4) Feathers; Boat Storage;--Blue-Water Lagoon and River View. Major concerns is the hiring process through the Human Resource with prolonged' background investigations; the need for appointing Tribal Board and Committee members, just to name a few. I believe that the most important key is that each Tribal Member candidate take action to bring forth sound government and laws to the land that God has bles s ed this Tribe with. God's formula for success is simple: OUR LABOR- HIS FAVOR- HIS PEOPLE I bring with me commitment, honesty and integrity. I will do my utmost to faithfully and diligently represent this unique tribe. I take great pride knowing that our founding fathers and past tribal council served in carrying the torch for our future generation and generations to come. Thank you. s/ Daphne Hill-Poolaw CRIT Members,I am excited and proud to run for the vacant two-year Tribal Council Seat on Saturday, December 5, 2020. I have a vision for improving our communi- ty, and humbly seek your support and vote!My name is Josephine ‘Jo’ Tahbo, and I am a CRIT tribal member and have resided on the reservation for most of my life. I am of Hopi/Tewa descent but identify as CRIT. I am currently the Chief Game Warden for the Fish & Game Department and have worked for the Tribes for the past 16 years under various tribal departments, including several Law & Order Divisions. I have recently been actively involved in leading my team to protect CRIT from being overrun by the COVID-19 outbreak while enabling important outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, fishing, and hunting. Through smart actions and community information and engagement, we can protect our people from one of the worst national disasters in our lifetimes. I have a rich base of experience that provides me with unique insight for serving you on the Tribal Council – especially in the realm of public safety. Some of the spe- cific CRIT services I have been involved in are: Business & Enterprise Board, Liquor Board, Civil procedures, Criminal procedures, and Administrative duties for Fish & Game. In my current position, I have worked diligently with the Council to improve the Fish & Game Department and its programs through multiple efforts such as: —Increased permit prices to provide more revenue for the Tribes, —Updated codes to protect our Tribe’s natural resources, —Updated policies & procedures to improve access for lawful access to our natural resources, and Worked with the CRIT youth in the Parker Unified School District to educate them about our land. —CRIT Website Department access portal with current regulations, map of CRIT, and contact information —Established merchant credit card service (ability to pay with debit/credit instead of cash out in the field) —Obtained new equipment for the F&G Department As a CRIT member, my beliefs and values align with our CRIT Constitution and By-Laws that state, “Establish justice, promote the general welfare, safeguard our interests, encourage educational progress, conserve and develop our land and resources and secure the blessings of freedom and liberty for ourselves and our posteri- ty.” As a CRIT Game Warden, I have had the good fortune to protect and uphold the CRIT Constitution daily. I strongly believe in promoting our cultural heritage and traditions while protecting the rights of CRIT members through: Increasing employment so that we may improve our current opportunities - I am a strong advocate for the hiring of CRIT Members, Expanding educational opportunities so that we may increase our and our children’s future opportunities - I will support those who wish to continue their education at various levels, and Improving CRIT Members’ overall well-being across all CRIT Government programs and services. My platform of increasing employment, educational opportunities, and government services, combined with prioritizing our cultural heritage and traditions, will ele- vate our Tribes for a brighter future. My priorities are maintaining the lands we live on, continuing to assert our sovereignty, and ensuring governmental accountability to the tribal members. During the COVID crisis, I sat in the front seat as a tribal member and employee, witnessing first-hand a break-down in communication, lack of public services, man- agement of funding, lack of dedication, and commitment, which are vital areas to the Tribes. As a Tribal Council candidate, I pledge to help improve the government’s response in both standard and times of crisis through: Improving communications between the Tribal Government and members, Prioritizing the continuity of Tribal Government services, Maximizing fiscal opportunities and accountability,Holding departments accountable for serving the members. My intentions are not to benefit myself or make empty campaign promises but to promote assistance and support. I believe in teamwork and accountability. I think when we work together as Tribes, it makes us stronger. Support “general welfare, safeguard our interest, encourage educational progress… and secure the blessings of freedom and liberty for ourselves and our posterity.” Please honor me with your support, and I will honor you with my service. Vote for Josephine ‘Jo’ Tahbo for a two-year tribal council seat on Saturday, December 05, 2020. Respectfully,Josephine Jo Tahbo Email: votejotahbo@hotmail.com
