Page 5 An aggressive disease calls for aggressive actions There was no playbook for this situation of mass dislocation, the playbook is being written by leadership as it happens so our future leadership will have it. The C.R.I.T. Tribal gov- ernment responded wholeheartedly to protect tribal members by quickly passing laws to protect them, socially, financially, and medically. Exercising their authority on their lands by making masks mandatory, stay at home orders, coordinating with independent testing entities to enable mass testing, ordering fiberglass barriers, closing river access,implement- ing a free mask program, creating a crisis task force of CRIT and outside professionals, educational videos and websites. Our leaders made and continue to make decisions based on science, data, and public health. So let’s continue to do our part and follow the proto- cols. Although it’s hot outside and wearing a mask is uncomfortable remember— COVID- 19 doesn’t care. -MMsgr. Photo credit: MMsgr./C. Burley/D. Drennan
