As many of the residents head back to their other home communities for the summer, we also know that many stay here in our wonderful community. During the summer, your staff will continue to work diligently to promote a more forward-thinking future. In the seven years that I have been at Leisure World, I have had a unique role working in various departments. I have been with Security Department, filled in at Administration, Communications, Facilities and sat in the Finance Office for months. I have worked alongside and seen the other side of these departments. The one thing I can say is that each department holds an important role in the overall functions of the operations that makes Leisure World a great place to live. Distributing over 36,000 copies of newspapers and allowing 1.3 million vehicles into the community at the security gates, on a yearly basis. Caring for 26 miles of roadway, addressing over 1,600 work orders, and maintaining over 400 acres of turf, keeps the staff passionate in helping the community to move smoothly. Each department believes that when we work to provide residents with the best resources and level of service possible, great things will happen – and they are! Over the past several months, there has been many positive and progressive changes, and we are only at the beginning of a collaborate future. We are committed to providing a positive and collaborative culture for a promising future!! As the Community Manager, my goal is to make Leisure World the most desired place to live in the Valley. Over the past years, we have had the privilege of hiring several new department heads and employees who aspire to promote a forward-looking agenda; and work diligently to enhance our community with pride and promote unity. During the summer months, we will continue to provide the onsite residents with the best services and experiences. As we voyage forward with large projects, such as dredging lakes and street projects, our focus will be on ways to enhance a stronger community. Let me ask you a simple question: What are you passionate about? What type of things do you want to do that you enjoy or have never tried? Here at Leisure World, we have it! There are so many wonderful things to do right here in your own community. There are not many places where you can live that have the amazing amenities we have at Leisure World and we are continuing to add new ones. Year-round, there are a lot of good and positive things in Leisure World. Increasing homeowner engagement is an important component of building a strong community. More homeowner involvement gives our administration and the Board members a broader perspective on ways to meet residents’ needs. Community events give residents the opportunity to get to know everyone in the community and create special bonds between neighbors. We encourage residents to participate in our activities, events and clubs. I also want to encourage our residents to look at the numerous volunteer opportunities here at Leisure World. I would be remiss if I did not thank all the Leisure World residents for the support, encouragement, ideas and input that you have provided. We have a great group of people who truly care about our community. Whether you have left for the summer or are staying to enjoy 115-degreeweather, our objective is to continue to communicate with our residents, provide updates as to what is happening, and key information about our wonderful community. You can stay updated via the LWCA newspaper, email blasts, electronic displays, and various social media platforms. -Jason Doll, LWCA Community Manager You have purchased a home in Leisure World and are enjoying all the community has to offer. How does Leisure World strive to keep the quality of life high for its residents? Every few years, a Rules and Regulations Committee is formed to review and update the guidelines and tools necessary to manage and regulate a quality active adult community. The Leisure World Rules and Regulations are applicable and enforceable for all LWCA owners, occupants, and guests authorized for entry on a manor’s guest list. In addition, the LWCA Rules and Regulations: 1. Provide for residents and guests to enjoy LWCA amenities and facilities. 2. Help protect the health, safety, rights, and property values of LWCA residents. 3. Define expected acceptable behaviors of community residents and establish appropriate limitations and penalties. In March 2022, the Rules and Regulations were chartered to review the current rules (last updated and board adopted April 2019). The committee has representation from all districts and is chaired by Larry Weber, a resident with a keen perspective on the rules since he served as Security Manager for 10 years! The committee will continue to meet throughout the summer and will present the proposed updates to the board in the fall of 2022. Of course, community input will be requested, and the proposed draft will be posted online for all residents to read. The Board liaison, Barb Yapp, is happy to receive resident suggestions.
