A8 April 2022 • Community • www.lwca.com Please mark your calendar for Saturday, April 16 at 9:00 a.m. until noon for the Lions Club Charity Food Drive and Car Wash! It will be at the Rec. 2 southern parking lot. Look for signs, barriers, cones and tape for each event. The food drop-off point will be at the far southern end of the Rec. 2 parking lot. Enter the lot at the first entry when coming from the southern gate. Look for two white tents with a large food drive banner attached and our Lions Club flags on each end. Follow the signs to the food drop-off point. Cash, Checks, Food! If you wish to make a cash donation in check form, please make your check payable to the LW Lions Club. Drop your donation at the food drop-off point where there will be a cashier. We deposit all cash and checks received and write a single check to New Hope. Please make food donations non-perishable items, no glass jars or bottles. We ask that you check the expiration date. If expired, the item cannot be donated. The food bank at New Hope really needs canned foods, spaghetti sauce, beans of any type, soups of any kind, peanut butter and jelly, Top Roman, any type of pasta, cases of water, any type or brand of cereals and even toilet paper. Bring anything you can! New Hope will put your donations to good use! New Hope Community Center Where will the food and money go to, you ask? It all goes to The New Hope Community Center here in Mesa. It is a nonprofit Christian-based organization that services so many families in need here in the East Valley. Your Questions Answered The car wash event will be set up next to the Rec. 2 building, where they wash their golf carts. Look for another white tent in that area and follow the signs to enter. I have been asked numerous questions about the car wash. See Q&A below. Q - How much will it cost to have my car washed? A - This is a charity fundraiser. Please be generous. Q - Can I get more than one car to be washed? A - Yes, as long as you make another nice donation for each additional vehicle washed. Q - Is this event only for Leisure World residents? A - No, your visitors or friends can participate. We will happily wash their car and take their donation. Q - Will you wash my golf cart? A - Yes, again with your wonderful cash donation. Q - Will you wash my RV? A - No. Unfortunately, we will not. The LeisureWorld Lions Club and the NewHope Community Center of Mesa thank you in advance for your generous donation!
