Leisure World Woodworking Club   Submitted by Larry Bair   Last month, was the annual Arts and Crafts Fair in Leisure World. The Woodworking Club offered items for sale that were made and donated by our members. These same members also donated their time for setup and cleaning of the shop for the sale. Thank you to all volunteers! Our annual spring potluck dinner is on April 20th. We will meet at 5:30 for social time followed by dinner art 6:00. Our new club officers will be installed at this dinner. The slate of officers is: President – Bob Williamson, 1st Vice President – Tim Murphy, 2nd Vice President - Bill Moulthrop, Secretary – Larry Bair and Treasurer – Alan Yapp. The woodshop is amid some major electrical upgrades, and we have had some interruptions in the hours when the shop was totally functional. The new upgrades will give the shop more autonomy over the use of our power tools and a safer environment inside the shop. Thanks to all members of the club for your patience during the upgrade. The shop is also working on a reorganization of the space available with the movement of some power tools and tables. New lockers for the storage of personal workpieces are being installed and are rentable to members of the club so that their works in progress don’t have to be taken home after each visit. Leisure World Cloggers   Submitted by Joyce Loland    The Leisure World Cloggers were delighted to make an appearance at the Leisure World Chorus’ spring concert. They danced to the lively music of the song Rocky Top. Clogging originated in Appalachia, so it was a wonderfully appropriate performance to the Tennessee song. Maybe it even encouraged someone in the audience to learn to clog! Classes are held every Friday in the classroom next to the Fitness Center. And for true beginners, they are free! Fran Dusek teaches them from noon-12:30 if they notify her by Thursday (602-684-9353) that they are coming. Other classes are Beginners Plus from 12:30 – 1:30, Intermediate 1 from 1:30 – 2:30, and Intermediate 2 from 2:30 – 4:00. It costs $5 and you can attend as many sessions that day as you wish. Advanced Clogging taught by Cathy Martin and Dan Rowan on Wednesdays 2:00 – 4:00 puts the emphasis on classic flatfooting and buck dancing. For more information, contact Dan at 909-556-3909 or Cathy at 480-766-8441. Leave a message and they will get back to you. Come join the fun! Clogging is even good for you!
