Some of us ventured out of our caves and attended in-person meetings in the theatre, but we included others by Zoom in a hybrid format. The Fall Art Show bounced back featuring 45 artists and 197 works of photography, painting and drawing, and 3-dimensional art. It was a great show, and it was great to be back! In January, we again tied in with the LW Foundation lecture series by displaying photographs capturing life in Arizona. About 400 residents enjoyed the presentation of travel photographer Roger Naylor. February brought the return of the Theme-Within-a-Theme Contest featuring “Street Scenes.” As with all our exhibits, it’s a great way to enjoy museum-quality art by your own neighbors! We added something new this year, live photo shoots in the Art Studio. Food was the favorite subject, but we also enjoyed others. We finished the season with a Photo Shoot to the Phoenix Highland Games in Gilbert on March 5th. Our participating members got some great shots and then enjoyed a delicious lunch at The Nook. Take care and have a melodically cool, safe summer! Music Therapy Class      Submitted by Vicki Noble      Our Leisure World Music Therapy Class is held twice each month year round, on the first and third Friday at 12:30 in the music room in Rec 2. The class is for caregivers and their loved ones with any form of dementia or Parkinson’s Disease. We’re so happy to sing our favorite old songs together, enjoy socializing, and ending with some sweet treats!! We have such talented and fun-loving music leaders who always lift our spirits and make us smile. As caregivers, you often miss being with others, especially those who face similar challenges, and understand the need for joining together for some uplifting fun. Share the class with other caregivers you know so we can all enjoy the benefits of music therapy together. Even if our loved ones can’t form a complete sentence, it is amazing how they will remember the words and tunes to the old songs we sing. Please join us this Friday at 12:30. See you there!! We also have a ZoomMusic Therapy Class every Friday from 10:00-11:30. The class includes people from all over the valley and their caregivers. It is a very fun music and activity-oriented class. These classes are a bright spot in our lives each week. If you want to join the Zoom class, call 480-369-1466, or email Vicki at vickmal7@ gmail.com , and she will send you the link each week. We hope you’ll try us out!
