When you open yourself to new experiences, such as a new craft class, a new hobby or become a student in a course, you are providing stimulation to your brain. Try various crossword puzzles or online games with friends. You may enjoy chess or card games, which are also help stimulate your brain. You cannot expect to keep you mind sharp if you do not work at it. 5. Social Interaction: Spend time with people. Have conversations. Be social. Surround yourself around people that may have similar hobbies. Get active. Become a volunteer. Become active in cultural activities and sports. Expose yourself to new things that are mentally challenging. Leading an active social life can protect against memory loss. Studies have shown that those who are most socially active in their communities have the slowest rate of memory loss.
