Leisure World News • Wellness • December 2021 B21 My husband, Dennis, and I moved to Leisure World in November 2020, and we are loving it! In September 2017, we retired out of Maryland in, sold everything we owned from a three-bedroom home and bought a 35- foot Class Amotorhome and hit the road. Everything we owned was in that RV. We traveled the country for three years before making the decision to make Leisure World our home. We then sold the RV and bought everything again that we had sold three years ago! Living on the road, we were always active and exploring what this beautiful country has to see. Making the decision to settle down and move into a community was a little scary for us because we still wanted to remain active. e Fitness Center at LeisureWorld has given me this opportunity and is a great asset to the community! I have been taking the Hustle and Muscle class taught by Susan Kalnas for the past 10 months and have already signed up for my 11th month! is class is taught three days a week, so it is one way of keeping me moving and getting my heart rate up. It has also introduced me to some wonderful people living in Leisure World. In October, I signed up for the Master the Machines class taught by Payton Cap. is is a great class if you are feeling a little intimidated by the machines. She explains two or three machines per class. en, we are given the opportunity to “play” on each machine. She is readily available to answer questions and help with correctly setting up the machine for you.We are encouraged to visit the Fitness Center on our own to continue to familiarize ourselves with the machines. is is great for me since I prefer going to the Fitness Center in the evenings and/or on Saturdays and Sundays when it is a little quieter than during the week and I can just do my thing! And because of the class, I feel that I am using the machines correctly and getting the most out of my workouts! My husband is not much of a gym or class person, but he keeps active by riding his bicycle 15-20 miles for four or ve times a week in the community. We both participated in the Fitness Center triathlon (walking, biking and swimming) and participated in the November Turkey Trot.
