Leisure World News • Community • December 2021 A5 “After years of serving in law enforcement, I made a difficult decision to explore an alternative professional career to work for a successful organization,” explains Jason. “While exploring various options, I discovered Leisure World’s job opening for Security Director. After researching Leisure World, I knew I had found a great organization I wanted to work for!” It also didn’t hurt that Jason’s parents, Vic and Jeanne, had just retired and moved into Leisure World. Faith and Family At the heart of who Jason is and everything he does is a profound faith and love of family. He is the proud husband to his wife Amy of 20 years, and their four children, Mallory, 19, Morgan, 16, Madison, 12 and Matthew, 10. “Family means so much to me,” says Jason sincerely. “My wife and children motivate me every day! I am truly blessed!” Jason is also currently a deacon at Heart Cry Church in Queen Creek, where he delivers inspiring sermons weekly to devoted congregants. An accomplished author, Jason’s pearls of wisdom can be gleaned in his numerous books. In 2013, he published his first book, “Moving Mountains: Achieving God’s Best in Your Life.” He has since published 12 more books, with his latest, “Draw Near, Knowing God by Name,” published in July 2021. Heart for Kenya But Jason isn’t just making a difference in the lives of his family, church and residents in Leisure World. He is also helping those in need in Kenya. In 2012, Jason founded J.D. Ministries, a nonprofit organization providing clean water and education for impoverished communities like Nakuru, Kenya. The ministry’s trademark are annual trips to Kenya providing essential items to children and families in need. While in Kenya, Jason is also an assistant pastor of House of Transformation Church. Inspiration struck again in 2020, when Jason established Jacob’s Well, a nonprofit organization that provides clean drinking water for families and children in the slums of Kenya. Sadly, over 2,100 children die daily from water-related disease. A water well will help Kenyans keep their bodies clean and free from diseases while restoring dignity and meaning to their lives. This past summer, Jason and his team visited Kenya and helped children and families by providing food, clothing, glasses, school supplies, hygiene items, Bibles, COVID supplies, mosquito netting and other needed items. “This is what I have been called to do, to help the poorest of the poor,” says Jason passionately. “When you look into the eyes of a mother who is working effortlessly and cannot provide for her child — or when you look into the eyes of a child and see nothing but hunger and pain – you are compelled to act.” Ultimately, caring for others and acting with integrity keeps Jason thriving. He is motivated for all to fulfill their potential, including Leisure World. “I greatly appreciate the Governing Board’s faith in me,” concludes Jason. “I am excited to continue to enhance Leisure World and make it the best community for our residents!” Jason with grateful Kenyan children in August 2021.
