You will find many of your friends are already members. We invite you to join us! We feature the most enjoyable bands in the East Valley and a catered dinner served at your table. We have a smart casual dress code and always a fun-loving friendly group. Our four yearly events are in the Rec. 2 Hopi/ Pima Ballroom. Our first event was on November 20 when “Caution” delighted everyone with wonderful renditions of dancing and listening favorites. Premier Catering served a delicious prime rib dinner. Our three remaining events this season will feature the following musical groups: • Sat., Jan. 15, 2022: Rhythm Edition • Sat., Feb. 19, 2022: Midnight Confessions • Sat., March 26: Whiskey Rose Although we have a large and loyal membership, we accept any Leisure World residents as guests for only $40 per person or $75 for a couple. Desert Belles meet onMondays from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. in the Music Room in Rec. 2. If you can carry a tune and want to join us, we would love to have you! We are working on Christmas music to go caroling on Saturday, December 18. We will meet and leave from the Rec. 1 Card Room at 3:00 p.m. After caroling, we will meet back at the Card Room for our annual chili (and more) dinner at 5:00 p.m. We hope you will come and check us out! With spectacular music filling Hopi on November 13, the dancers enjoyed the first dinner-dance of the season. Music Therapy Class Submitted by Vicki Noble If you are a caregiver of a loved one who is struggling with any form of dementia, including Alzheimer’s, Lewy- body, frontal lobe or with Parkinson’s disease, this is the place to be! We enjoy singing our favorite old songs with our talented music therapists. It is amazing to watch and listen to our loved ones singing songs they still remember! We meet monthly in the Music Room in Rec. 2 and enjoy refreshments after singing. The date for this month is Friday, December 3 at 12:30 p.m. Our music therapists also offer a Zoom class every Friday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. We have singing, play fun music-related games, contests, rhythm activities and get to dance right there at home. Leisure World Big Band Submitted by John Andrews All residents are invited to come to our rehearsals every Tuesday morning at the Hopi Ballroom from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. You can sit, listen, dance, drink coffee, eat cookies and enjoy the company! Don’t forget the dance on Sunday, December 5 at 2:30 p.m. at the Rec. 2 Hopi Ballroom. The cost is $8 per person. Tickets are available at the door or at the Recreation Office. Leisure World Cloggers Submitted by Joyce Loland Leisure World Cloggers are excited about the interest shown in clogging at the Activities Fair! We welcome those who signed up, so give it a try. Classes are every Friday in the classroom by the Fitness Center. Beginners, you cannot beat the price, it’s free! Fran Dusek teaches the basic steps from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m., if she knows you are coming. Please contact her at 602-684-9353 on Thursday before the class. Cathy Martin and Dan Rowan teach Beginners Plus from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Intermediate 1 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and Intermediate 2 and 3 from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. The cost is $5, and you can dance at as many levels that day as you wish. Clogging provides wonderful physical exercise to a variety of fun music. As we say, “We clog so our arteries don’t.” Although there are usually more women in the class than men, clogging is also for men.
