Leisure World News • Community • December 2021 A25 Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group Submitted by Vicki Noble Caregivers of loved ones who have any form of dementia, you are not alone! We have a community of caregivers who come together every month to receive and share information, reassurance and support. We meet on the third Wednesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in the Queen Card Room in Rec. 1.  This month, mark your calendar for Wednesday, December 15 at 10:00 a.m. You will receive some tips on getting through the holidays with your loved one, along with strategies for daily living which have worked for other caregivers. You may be caring for a person with Alzheimer’s Disease, Lewy-body, frontal/temporal lobe dementia, Parkinson’s or any other form of dementia. You don’t have to face this responsibility alone. If you need information and reassurance, we provide a supportive environment where you can share your questions and concerns. American Association of University Women (East Mesa Branch)   Submitted by Shirley Davis  TheAmericanAssociationofUniversityWomen(AAUW) East Mesa Branch will meet on Wednesday, December 1 at 1:00 p.m. in the King Card Room in Rec. 1. Our speaker will be Amy Fa’atoafe. She is the Executive Director of the Native American Fatherhood and Families Association. Amy also serves on the City of Mesa Human Relations Advisory Board. We will discuss plans for our author’s luncheon, “Paris is Always a Good Idea,” with author Jenn McKinlay, which will be on Saturday, February 26. AAUW membership is open to anyone holding an associate or equivalent (RN)), baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university. Democratic Club   Submitted by Kathleen Roderick  This year has gone by so fast; it is hard to believe that it is almost over. We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We want to thank everyone who volunteered to chair our committees. We will not be having our regular meeting on December 8. Instead, we are going to party and celebrate the holidays with a White Elephant gift exchange. So, let’s get rid of the old and leave with something new. So, please come and enjoy our festivities and meet great Democrats! It is time to party after six hard months getting our feet wet after COVID-19. We look forward to 2022 filled with great expectations, new speakers, redistricting and to know which district we belong to. That will be the beginning of hard work in turning Arizona Blue. We hope you are ready to come and join us! We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Investment Club of Leisure World (aka San Tan Investment Club) Submitted by Shelly Begel  The Investment Club of Leisure World (aka San Tan Investment Club) is a partnership consisting of Leisure World residents who are interested in investing in stocks and securities for growth. We are connected with Better Investing, a national organization that helps members build wealth through educational tools. The goal of the club is to increase our education and knowledge of investing. We study various investments before buying or selling stocks The club meets every second Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m. Our Thursday, December 9 meeting will be a hybrid meeting. We will meet in person at the Queen Card Room and also have a Zoom link for those who wish to attend the meeting offsite. We continue to include members out of Arizona and the country. Our portfolio is doing well in this investing environment. We look forward to engaging our inquiring minds this season! The Leisure Rovers RV Club has kicked off the new season with several new members! Come check us out. The objective of our club is to promote fellowship for members through regular meetings, planned trips and social events. We have completed trips to Lake Powell and San Diego and are planning trips in the New Year. Our next meeting will ring in Christmas at The Silver Star Theatre, followed by monthly club meetings in 2022.
