The McDonough Library offers a variety of free crafting fun this summer. Dr. Who Sonic Screwdriver Craft. Are you a fan of Dr. Who? Are you inter- ested in meeting other Whovians? Stop in Tuesday, June 4th from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and create a Dr. Who craft and discuss your favorite episodes. Alien Barbie Apocalypse - Join us Tuesday, June 11 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. for Alien Barbie Apocalypse where you will be encouraged to reimage Barbie as an alien, a zombie, or wherever your imagination takes you. DIY Galaxy Tie Dye - For this project, you will need a white t-shirt or other cotton item to create your own DIY Galaxy tie dye. We will be outside for this project on Tuesday, June 18th at 3:00 p.m. Space Rock Fridge Magnets - Learn how to create your own space rock fridge magnet on Tuesday, July 2 at 2:30 p.m. Constellation String Craft: Create a Constellation String Craft using string on Tuesday, July 9 at 2:30 p.m. Constellation Jar Lamp: Learn how to create a Constellation Jar Lamp on Tuesday, July 16 at 2:30 p.m. Join us for a special evening storytime on Mondays, July 1, 15 and 22 at 6:00 p.m. We’ll watch and listen to Astronauts read Stories from Space! Kids are welcome to come in their family friendly pajamas for this sto- rytime. Come together over tasty snacks to discuss, rant, and rave over literature. Sessions take place on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. June 3 - The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon. June 17 - All the Bright Places by Jennifer Nivens. June 24 - Artemis Fowl by Eion Colfer. July 1 - Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang. July 15 - We will be discussing your favorite manga series. July 22 - Eat, Brains, Love by Jeff Hart. July 29 - Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Have you met Murphy yet? He’s a friendly Golden Retriever, also a certified therapy dog, who loves to be read to. Bring your own book or choose one here and spend a few minutes reading to Murphy! MG Sprouts - Horticultural Program for Kids Tales for Tails - Read to a Dog CRAFTING WITH KIDS Dream the impossible and “Reach for the Stars" program presents stories about ani- mals in space! Marc Griffiths and his puppet friends will present a funny and excit- ing program to encourage self-esteem, aspirations, setting goals, and empowering chil- dren and families to make great choices. Marc is a motivational speaker, author, inspi- rational ventriloquist, and an expert on happiness and success. Join us June 3 at the McDonough Library from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Please arrive early, seating is limited. We are blasting off this summer with kids crafting sessions at the McDonough Public Library on Wednesday at 1:00 PM. Join us for these fun and free Space and Science themed crafts, all sup- plies are provided! These crafts are recommended for ages 5 - 12. June 5 - Do you like to look up at the night sky? Stop by McDonough Library to create your own Galaxy in a Plastic Bottle. June 12 - Have you ever wondered how to make slime? Now is your chance to learn. Join us for an hour of creating and play- ing with slime. June 19 - Get ready to make an out of this world alien space- ship using plastic cups and paper bowls. July 3 - This crafting session, we will be creating Space Shrinky Dinks. Come with your ideas about different designs you can use. July 10 - Do you like slime and play dough? Stop by the library to learn how to make your own space play dough. July 17 - Do you like painting? Paint some creative space stones at McDonough. July 24 - Have you ever wondered what moon sand feels like? Stop by McDonough to learn how to create your own and spend some time playing in it! July 31 - Have you ever made pictures in the night sky using the stars? Create your own constellation with marshmallows and toothpicks at McDonough Library! MG SPROUTS is a Master Gardener Extension Volunteer-led horticulture pro- gram for children ages 6-9 years of age. Children's literature provides a base for each of the six sessions. Listen to a garden-related story and explore the world of plants through hands-on horticulture, writing, games and other fun activi- ties. Sign-ups are required to attend and children are encouraged to attend all six sessions. This program takes place June 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27 (4-5 PM).
