This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing and we have two opportunities for you to celebrate! On Thursday, July 18 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cochran Library join us for an Apollo Landing Anniversary Party. Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first lunar landing (July 20, 1969). Wear your retro fashion and take a step back in time as we watch videos of the events, play music from that iconic year and enjoy snacks and community spirit. On Friday, July 19, head over to Fortson Library to party like It's 1969 all over again! America is about to make his- tory with "putting a man on the moon." So step out in your 60's attire, and help us celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. There will be crafts, a photo booth, a short screening of the actual event, and of course a costume contest!!! This is an all-day event drop in between 11:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., for specific details please call 678-432-5353 ext. 5. Do you like Dr. Who, Stars Wars, Star Trek, and other similar shows? Then, join us for the first ever McDonough Mini-Con at McDonough Public Library! We will have discussions on the upcoming Star Wars movie, the new season of Dr. Who, and more. We will have panelist from MomoCon, 221B con, and Conjuration Con coming. In the afternoon, we are planning some sci-fi inspired crafts and challenging patrons to Wii gaming. We will have a cos- play fashion show (registration requested) which will be family friendly cos- tumes. This is a free all-ages event. This is event is only available at Fairview Library the first week of July! Cochran Public Library in Stockbridge has two Star Wars Trivia Night Planned. Join us June 6 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Cochran Library for fun-filled trivia and prizes! For even more Star Wars fun we’ll be hosting trivia at Rico’s Mexican Restaurant in Stockbridge on Tuesday, July 9 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Local Author Fair Are you interested in writing? Join us at the McDonough Library On Monday, July 22 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to meet local authors. Peruse their books, get tips and find out how they got published. Connect with others who are just starting their writing career. This event is a drop in program. Authors will be in the lobby at different tables showcasing their work. Need your GED? This workshop offers tips and strategies to help you surf the inter- net safely, while educating you on how to not become a victim of internet fraud.
