Fairview Public Library has some exciting events and performers planned for
this year’s Summer Reading Program. In order to take full advantage of a few
of our terrific shows by professional performers it is highly recommended that
you pre-register for the following programs:
Chef Carlin - June 8, 2017
Fiddlin’ Dan the Mountain Man - June 21 at 2:00 p.m.
Dave Holland (Percussionist) - July 12 at 2:30 p.m.
Doc Atoms “Explosive Science Show” - July 10 at 2:30 p.m.
Mumferd, from the Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre - July 7 at 2:00 p.m.
MG SPROUTS - Gardening Program - Tuesdays in June and July at 2:00 p.m.
SIGNING UP FOR PROGRAMS
AT FAIRVIEW PUBLIC LIBRARY
Throughout the summer at 1:30
p.m., we are having crafternoons!
Join us to make book charm neck-
laces from old washers on June 12
and construct forts from card-
board on June 15. Explore the art
of map-making on June 19 and
create images composed of words
to make word clouds on June 26.
Write chalk poetry on June 29 and
make an artistic masterpiece from
bottle caps on July 17. At our final
crafternoon, July 20, compose a
skyline from paint sample strips.
All supplies will be provided.
Fiddlin’ Dan the Mountain Man
Join us June 21 at 2:00 p.m. for music and stories with Fiddlin’ Dan the
Mountain Man. His program includes interactive songs, stories and humor
that keeps everyone entertained.
Dave Holland, One Beat at a Time.
Dave Holland is one of Atlanta’s most regarded figures in rhythm-based
facilitation, world percussion and teaching artistry. This high-energy per-
formance and STEM-powered program explores natural and recycled mate-
rials and how they are utilized to construct one of a kind instruments. The
program also places an emphasis on design, construction and artistic cre-
ativity as the audience experiences how raw resources are crafted to create
music! Join us July 12 at 2:30 p.m.
Musical Programs
at the Library
On June 8, 2017, Chef Carlin will
lead a cooking program for children
and teens. Chef Carlin is a Certified
Personal Chef and a member of the
International Association of Culinary
Professionals. She is a teaching
chef at the Cook's Warehouse in
Atlanta as well as a product spe-
cialist for KitchenAid. Join us for this
fun educational experience, which
concludes with tasting our dish. No
culinary experience needed and
everyone will get the opportunity to
participate. There is limited seating
so registration is recommended.
You don’t want to miss this oppor-
tunity to build your skills in the
kitchen and enjoy a tasty treat.
Children 12 and under should sign
up for the 3:30 p.m. session, and
young adults should sign-up for the
6:00 p.m. session.
Chef Carlin: A hands-on cooking
program for children and teens
Mumferd, from the Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre,
will join us with his neighborhood safety show for younger
children on July 7 at 2:00 p.m.

Our new makerspace cart contains tools and trinkets, where you can cre-
ate and invent to your heart’s content anytime the library is open!

NOVEL BUILD
Preschool storytime
will take place on
Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m.
This year, the Summer
Reading theme is Build
a Better World. Each
storytime we will share a
well-chosen title about
being part of a big won-
derful world. These sto-
ries remind little readers
that even they can do
things to live peacefully
and save our planet!
Come for the stories,
singing, dancing, and
activities.

You will not want to miss this six-week program
with gardening stories, hands-on activities involving
dirt, seeds, and plants, and take home materials. This
program, conducted by Henry County Master
Gardeners, is for early elementary-aged children and
requires signing up within the first few weeks of the
program. Dates for this series are June 13, 20, and
27, and July 11, 18, and 25, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.
