16 Gulf Pine Catholic • December 20, 2024 Our Lady Academy (OLA) is excited to announce that five of its senior stu- dent-athletes have officially committed to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. These outstanding young women have demonstrated exception- al skill, dedication, and leadership throughout their high school careers. We are incredibly proud to celebrate this significant achievement with them. The following seniors will be representing their respective colleges in the upcoming seasons: Margaret Compretta will be playing soccer at Pearl River Community College; Ava Davis will be playing volleyball at Southwest Mississippi Community College; Julia Hoffman will be playing soccer at Pearl River Community College; Emily Reinike will be playing soccer at Pearl River Community College; Kinsley Jean Stegall will be playing volleyball at Pearl River Community College. These student-athletes have not only excelled in their sports but have also shown a commitment to academic excellence. They have been outstanding rep- resentatives of OLA’s values both on and off the field. Their passion for their sports and determination to succeed has been evident throughout their high school careers. “We are incredibly proud of these five seniors for their hard work, dedica- tion, and the way they’ve represented OLA throughout their athletic journeys,” said Leigh Chapman, Interim Principal of Our Lady Academy. “Their commit- ment to both sports and academics highlights their incredible work ethic and determination. We can’t wait to see the amazing things they will accomplish at the collegiate level.” As these athletes transition to their college careers, we are confident they will bring the same level of excellence and leadership to their new teams, continuing to represent OLA with pride. Congratulations to Margaret, Ava, Julia, Emily, and Kinsley Jean as they embark on this exciting new chapter of their athletic careers. OLA seniors sign letter of intent to play sports in college. Each month a different grade takes time to “send him some love.” Back in September, the second grade sent him a Spiritual Bouquet and a gift basket from Stella Maris. On October, fifth grade collected gift cards for some of his favorite places to eat and shop and sent those along with handmade cards. In November, fourth grade made cards for him and sent some homemade cookies. The sixth graders made an extraordinary quilt for him. Each student created a quilt square with a quote from Scripture, lyrics from a song, or lines from a prayer. They added pictures with fabric markers. Then the students sewed the squares together to make a rag quilt. The students even did the “ragging.” The back of the quilt is made with the school uniform plaid and solitary blue broadcloth. Then sixth grade teacher Cindy Cox sewed the binding on the quilt. The students are so excited for Molesbee to receive his quilt. And some of them want to continue to learn to sew. God bless Ricky Molesbee and all of our seminarians.
