JUDE O Holy St. Jude, Apostle and Martyr, great in virtue and rich in miracles, near kinsman of Jesus Christ, faithful intercessor of all who invoke your special patronage in time of need, to you I have recourse from the depth of my heart and humbly beg to whom God has given such great power to come to my assistance. Help me in my present and urgent petition. In return I promise to make your name known and cause you to be invoked. St. Jude pray for us and all who invoke your aid. Amen. Say three Our Fathers, Hail Marys and Glorias. Publication must be promised. This Novena has never been known to fail. I have had my request granted. Publication promised. LCL We are called to be a voice of that promise to everyone we minister to in our daily lives. We are called to be the voice of the Shepherd. That is where discipleship happens. It is always a special moment for me when I visit our schools, especially when I visit the youngest children, who I refer to as the “super pixies.” When I walk into the room, if they have not met me before, some of them gasp and say, “It’s Jesus!” and I respond, “It’s one of His friends!” They are so ready to hear the Word of God. They are so ready to grow in faith. That is actually part of the invita- tion for us. Are we ready today to grow in the love of Jesus Christ? Are we ready to grow in hearing the voice of the Good Shepherd in our lives today? Are we ready to hear Him invite us into mission? He calls us to be His witnesses. He calls us to be so in love with Him that we are willing to offer our lives for His voice and His life. Imagine that is what happens among our staff and students in our schools. Imagine that is what starts to happen in our parishes. Imagine that is what happens in our families. Then, all of us together hear the voice of the Shepherd, we are able to share His love, and we are sent on mission. If all 1.4 billion Roman Catholics and the other billion Christians were really following the mission of Jesus Christ and loving at the level that He has told us to love, there would not be a war in Ukraine. There would not be a war in the Holy Land. There would not be wars going on in the north of Africa. The love of Jesus Christ is meant to win the day. Trust me. Even in the midst of difficulties, even in the midst of struggles, He has won the victory! As we are approaching the end of the liturgical year, and prepare to enter into the Advent season, and the return of Jesus, let us pray that we might heed the voice of the Shepherd in our lives, that we might meet Him in Holy Communion, and that we are able grow in His love today so that we are able to bring that love back to everyone we encounter in our lives.
