Gulf Pine Catholic • June 9, 2023 13 PASCAGOULA -- Bailey Bosarge , daughter of Janet and Paul Bosarges, is the Valedictorian of the Class of 2023 at Resurrection Catholic High School. Bailey plans to attend the University of Southern Mississippi as a Lucky Day Scholar where she will study to become a pediatric nurse. At RCS, Bailey was a member of Eagle Legacy, Key Club, Interact Club, Z Club, and the St. Vincent de Paul Club. This year she was named Miss RCS and selected for the RCS Hall of Fame and Triple Feat. Bailey was one of two RCS seniors awarded the prestigious Pope John Paul the II Award for the Class of 2023. Bailey says that her Catholic education has benefited her because it has provided her with the opportunity to grow in her education and her faith. Sarah Jean Scearce , son of daughter of Maureen Halbrook and Micheal Scearce, is the Salutatorian of the Class of 2023 at Resurrection Catholic School. Sarah Jean plans to attend the University of Resurrection Catholic High School Bailey Bosarge Valedictorian Sarah Jean Scearce Salutatorian Mississippi as a Lucky Day Scholar where she will major in pre-pharmacy biology. At RCS, Sarah Jean was a member of Eagle Legacy, Key Club, Student Council, Spirit Society, Interact Club, and served as the president of Z Club. Sarah Jean was also a mem- ber of the Pascagoula Mayor’s Youth Council and Jeune Esprit Service Club. Sarah Jean says that her Catholic education has taught her to incorporate her faith in everything she does. She plans to practice her Catholic faith throughout her college years and for the rest of her life. BAY ST. LOUIS -- Our Lady Academy is proud to announce that Audrey Chang has been named Valedictorian for the class of 2023 and Averie Templeton has been named Salutatorian. Audrey Chang is the daughter of Alex and Kelly Chang of Waveland. During her time at Our Lady Academy, Audrey has been a member of National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, serv- ing as President this year, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, French Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society, and has also been recognized as an AP Scholar with Honor and College Board National Rural and Small Town Scholar. Audrey served as Co-editor of the yearbook for the past three years and as Campus Ministry Co-President this school year. She was a member of the OLA swim team as a 6 -year letterman and member of the record-holding relay team, and also earned the OLA 100 yd back- stroke record. Audrey was a 3-year letterman in ten- nis, whose team went on to earn the title of 3A State Tennis Champions. Audrey is a member of St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church and has been an altar server since 2014. She has been an active volunteer with the Mound Bayou Mission Outreach Program and has served members of the community as an academic tutor. She has also served as a volunteer at the Hancock County Library, Holy Trinity Catholic Elementary School, and Dunbar Village Assisted Living Facility. Academically, Audrey graduated with a 4.37 weightedGPAand 32 Composite with a 33 Superscore on her ACT. She will attend Boston College with a Audrey Chang Valedictorian Averie Templeton Salutatorian Our Lady Academy scholarship to study psychology. She was offered admission to University of California, Los Angeles, Loyola University Maryland and Honors Program with a Presidential Scholarship, Tulane University as an Honors Scholar with a Tulane Merit Award, Auburn University with an Academic Heritage Scholarship, Clemson University with multiple scholarships, and Louisiana State University and Ogden Honors College with a Flagship Scholars Award and a Legacy Scholarship. After graduation, Audrey plans to continue to law school. Averie Templeton is the daughter of John and Aisa Templeton of Biloxi. She is a member of TrinityMethodist Church in Gulfport. During her time at Our Lady Academy, Averie has been a mem- ber of National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. She has served as secretary of the Class of 2023 for the past four years. She was the events coordinator for Spanish Honor Society and a member of Campus Ministry. Averie has played volleyball at OLA and with her club team for numerous years. Averie was named STAR student and a College Board National Rural and Small Town Scholar. Averie has volunteered through the Mound Bayou Mission Outreach Program and Woodside Wildlife Rescue Program, building and refurbishing animal rehabilitation centers. Averie will complete OLA with a 4.36 weighted GPA and a 33 ACT composite score with a 34 ACT superscore. She will attend The University of Alabama with a College Board National Recognition Scholarship package. She was offered a Presidential Scholarship to The University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Flagship Scholarship from Louisiana State University. The University of Mississippi offered multiple academic merit scholar- ships, and Florida State University awarded her a University Out-of-State Tuition Waiver. She will study biochemistry and pursue a Masters of Business Administration. After graduation, she plans to attend medical school.
