Gulf Pine Catholic • May 26, 2023 16 First Holy Communion 2023 Seventeen children celebrated the weekend of May 13 and 14 with their First Reconciliation and First Communion at St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland. On Saturday, they made their First Reconciliation and later placed their handprints in a concrete slab that was poured to stabilize the children’s picnic tables to celebrate their special day. On May 14, the Mass was celebrated with the children as lectors, ushers as well as carrying the gifts. Upon entering the church, they sang “Open My Eyes” and carried a single red rose which they presented to their mothers after the homily. The children joined Father Jacob-Matthew Smith, OFM on the altar to get a firsthand view of the consecration. After the Mass, the children celebrated with a pancake dinner provided by the Knights of Columbus. The communicants are Abel Orgeron, Abigail Spiers, Amelia Sullivan, AnnaClaire Rupp, Beckett Alexander, Dominic Gambino, Everett Sullivan, Huntleigh Manieri, Joshua Spiers, Landen Compton, Lillian Forrest, Maisy LaRue, Manning Piazza, Micha Fricke, SaelymWright, Stephen Spiers, and Zoe Piazza. St. Joseph Parish, Gulfport First Holy Communion took place Saturday, May 6, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Biloxi. The celebrants were Father Henry McInerney and Father Charles Arthur. The communicants are Barrett Arms, Bryce Dakis, Mateo Dakis, Avalynn Diaz, Harper Gailliot, Norah Gollott, Brayson Gramm, Marco Gutierrez, Mila Gutierrez, Garrett Hartsell, Shevonne Herath, Antonio Jefferson, Grant Johnson, Camille Krohn, Avalyn Leary, Penelope Loukatos, Evan McCrory, Lillian McLendon, Emi Pham, Neecolette Romero, Payton Ryan, Patrick Salber, Finley Steinwinder, Levi Threadgill, and Natalie Weaver. Special thanks and appreciation to the teachers Jessica Beauregard, Christine Davis, Yeinil Guzman, and Valerie Spires; they have shared their faith in preparing the students to receive the Lord.
