Gulf Pine Catholic • May 12, 2023 18 St. Stanislaus has nominated senior Edward Dezendorf for the Lindy Callahan Scholar Athlete Award. Each year, 16 Mississippi seniors repre- senting eight districts across the state are selected for the award which acknowledges the outstanding contributions these students make both inside the classroom and on the field. Edward’s athletic achievements include captain of both the soccer and cross-country teams. He has been a member of the soccer team all four years of high school during which time the team won the state champion- ship three times. Edward was also recognized as the most improved run- ner in cross country. In addition to serving on Student Council, he has been a member of the eSports team, Environmental Club, French Honor Society, Key Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, and Student Ministry. Edward will graduate in the top ten of his class and plans to attend the University of Mississippi and major in pre-law. Congratulations, Edward, on your nomination for this prestigious award. Dezendorf Lindy Callahan Scholar Athlete nominee The St. Stanislaus’ Booster Club held its annual Rockin’ the Bay fundraiser on Saturday, April 1. The fundraiser returned to the campus of St. Stanislaus after a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19. Among the highlights of Rockin’ the Bay were the $10,000 drawdown, silent auc- tion, food, music, and fellowship. Randy Ellis was the lucky winner of the $10,000 drawdown. Our thanks go out to Renee Lawson, Booster Club president, and her fellow members for putting together such an enjoyable event. L ouis Klagetoh mission trip Letha Boudreaux, Marine Science program director, and Cole Marshall, prefect, accompanied eight students to St. Anne’s Mission on the Navajo reservation in Klagetoh, Arizona. They spent the Easter holiday serving the Navajo community on the reservation.
