Each year, 16 Mississippi seniors representing eight districts across the state are selected for the Lindy Callahan Scholar Athlete Award, which acknowledges the outstanding contributions these stu- dents make both inside the classroom and on the field. Edward’s athletic achievements include playing soccer and running cross country, where he is a team captain of both sports. He has been a member of the 2-time State Champion SSC soccer team all four years of high school and received recognition as most improved runner in cross country. In addition to serving on Student Council, he has been a member of the eSports team, Environmental Club, French Honor Society, Key Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, and Student Ministry. As an academically gifted student with a 3.7 grade point average, Edwards plans to major in pre-law at the University of Mississippi. Congratulations Edward on your nomination for this prestigious award. Dezendorf The St. Stanislaus faculty and staff participated in a Day of Reflection at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans on Monday, February 27. The faculty and staff of the other Brothers of the Sacred Heart school in our region (Brother Martin High School, Catholic High of Baton Rouge, E.D. White Catholic High School, and Vandebilt Catholic High School) also participated. The morning included several keynote speakers who stressed the importance of our mission of education and challenged everyone to recommit to the mission of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart which is to “contribute as religions educators to the evangelization of the world, particularly through the education of youth.” Participants were then divided into small groups to discuss key issues relevant to their roles. It is invaluable for our Brothers of the Sacred Heart schools to get together to share ideas and experiences as well as to re-energize our educational mission. L ouis A large crowd of young robot enthusiasts joined ST. Stanislaus Robotics, Infinity Science Center, and U.S. Naval Research Labs for our second annual Robot Adventures on Tuesday, February 7. These young participants had the opportunity to interact and program robots at five different stations. As one family commented on the evening, “Robot Adventures was a great night of hands-on learning for all ages. Getting to see the SSC Robotics team in action was exciting and my son loved getting to interact with each of the robots. He is excited to come back and hopefully be a Rock-A-Chaw one day!” Robot Adventures Students at Robot Adventures code Artie 3000
