Diocesan Briefs From page 2 Bishop’s Column From page 3 Saint Juan Diego was already a very good person when he encounters Our Lady the Virgin of Guadalupe. Saint Juan Diego’s encounter with Our Lady the Virgin was a moment of transformation; it impacted him totally and deeply. His life changed, he became a mis- sionary, a disciple witnessing daily to the love of God imaged in the Tilma of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Since that moment he has had a very important part in the Church as a witness of God’s love through Mary. The Tilma image of Our Lady was a sign for him but also for God’s whole Church reaching out in time to us, which is why the Virgin of Guadalupe is our Patroness of Americas. In our lives of faith, we receive many bless- ings: our very life, our family, and our commu- nity of faith. We also have this image of the Virgin of Guadalupe and with this image, we remember that the Grace of God is present in our lives in whatever happens to us. Jesus Christ is with us and His Mother will always be there to intercede for us. The Grace of God is waiting for us, we just have to open our hearts to accept Jesus Christ in our lives. There is more to this life than what we see with our eyes, we also have to use our eyes of faith. We have to be people of prayer, people of the Word of God, and people of the Mass. When we enter the church, we accept that God is always present with us; He is with us to help us, to guide us, and to give us His grace. Let us open our hearts and receive the grace of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Son of Mary, in our lives. SEE BISHOP’S COLUMN IN SPANISH, PAGE 4 Jesus is the Reason for the Season!
