Gulf Pine Catholic • January 7, 2022 13 St. Elizabeth Seton Parish “The 99 Experience” for men Nine men received training to evangelize St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Ocean Springs using the program, “The 99 Experience.” The team was formed by Ron Kight, Dominic Barberie, Sean Riley, Peter, Nguyen, Jerrold Gilmore, Rich Garcia, Jesse Sauceda, and David Dobbins. The training took place at St. Elizabeth Seton Dec.10-11. The 99 Experience helps people to recognize the need for an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and it offers opportunities for a personal growth in the faith journey. At the same time, it offers ideas on how to evangelize those who we love such as our family, friends, members of the community and others we meet. Father Sergio Balderas, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, is happy that this program is being offered to the youth min- istry, women and men of the parish. The weekend was a real blessing and 48 men and ten team members attended this evangelization event. Father Sergio is grateful for the help of his brother priests who heard confessions. The follow up for these men is to continue their formation on communities of discipleship such as: Credo , Be My Witness , Arise , discipleship quads, and scripture studies. A special thanks to members of the women’s 99 team for their service with the dinner on Friday. Father Sergio is glad to see how the parish is now working and serving with the mentality of making disciples and the desire to live as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Hispanic Ministry at St. Alphonsus Parish, Ocean Springs With joy and fellowship, members of the Discipleship Quads from St. Alphonsus Parish got together for a Christmas evening of reflection and sharing. The event was a beautiful blessing because for the first time, they all got together. During Lent, a group of ten women “facilitators” got together with Father Sergio Balderas to learn, study and prepare the material. Now there are 10 discipleship quads. Forty women are walking the path of discipleship and evangelization. The next step for each of these women is to form new Disicpleship Quads this year. This is what we call the multiplication of disciples. We thank Sister Maria de Jesus, “Sister Chuy,” for her ministry with these women as spiritual companions.
