Gulf Pine Catholic • December 24, 2021 18 Students participate in Veterans Day Parade A large crowd came together in the City of Waveland for a Veteran’s Day Parade. The parade organizer was St. Stanislaus faculty member Kristen Tusa. St. Stanislaus students actively participated in the Waveland parade and student Jack Mullins played Taps to conclude the parade. Students at St. Stanislaus celebrated the Feast of Saint Stanislaus on November 12 with community service, fun outdoor activi- ties, and a pep rally. Among the service proj- ects were a beach clean-up, filling and deliv- ering food baskets for the needy, and writing Christmas cards to veterans. We value our students, faculty, and staff participating in the local community and helping those in need. Students celebrate Feast of Saint Stanislaus Brendan Allen -- Team Moderator, Micah Bishop, Satvik Kompella, Clay Hall, & Sam Favre Our St. Stanislaus Youth Legislation team travelled to Jackson where they completed the full process of passing their bills. Students from St. Stanislaus partici- pated in the Mississippi Youth Legislature, where stu- dents from public and private schools across Mississippi come together and participate in a mock legislative session at the Mississippi State Capitol. St. Stanislaus made their mark on the legislative committee when Sam Favre was elected as Speaker Pro Tem and Speaker for the Washington Political Party. Favre was also name Outstanding Committee Chairperson and Outstanding Representative. In addition to being named Outstanding Representative, Satvik Kompella was elected Secretary of the Senate. Clay Halls was elected Clerk of the House, and Micah Bishop was exemplary in debating many bills for and against. In 2020, the University of Mississippi partnered with the St. Stanislaus Marine Science Program to conduct experiments as part of a research project that will address critical research gaps in the north-central Gulf of Mexico on water quality and how it relates to oyster reefs and their sustainability. As part of this partnership, Jessica Pruett, a Ph.D grad student, recently presented the latest research results on water quality and juvenile oysters to the St. Stanislaus Marine Science II class.
