Gulf Pine Catholic • November 26, 2021 21 St. Vincent de Paul fourth graders traveled to St. Paul Cemetery in Pass Christian on All Souls Day. They do this every year as their grade’s service project. The kids clean up the grounds and make sure the grave sites are cleared of any debris or trash that may have blown into the area. Before loading onto the bus, Tiffany Brennan, one of the fourth grade teachers, told her students it is an honor and a privilege to take care of the final resting place of God’s people. Students filled trash bags with litter, limbs, and other debris; they swept grave sites, and cleared graves. One group came upon the grave of a veteran. They stopped what they were doing, saluted, and sang a patriotic song before continuing their job. Sophia Gonzalez found her grandpa’s grave. She said, “I felt really glad to be able to pray with my grandpa before I cleaned his grave.” The students felt great to be able to help get the cemetery ready for the All Souls Mass later that night. They ended their trip by praying the Divine Mercy together. What a beautiful day it was celebrating our men and women of service with a special Veterans Day Mass and reception. We are thankful each and every day for the sacrifices they made to ensure our freedom. Special thank you to our ambassadors and PreK-4 helpers who greeted and welcomed our guests after Mass.
