On September 30, 1821, Father Andre Coindre founded the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in Lyon, France. He founded the Institute to “rescue young people from ignorance to prepare them for life, and to give them a knowledge and love of religion.” Two hundred years later, the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and their partners in mission, work in 32 countries around the world.
