Volunteers can provide caregiver relief, companion- ship for patients, run errands, play music and offer whatever talents our volunteers would like to share. Thanks from LB SVdP LONG BEACH --The Society of St. Vincent de Paul thanks the many organi- zations and friends that helped make its hurricane recovery efforts successful. St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society across the coast donated much- needed supplies and money. Many SVdP conferences worked together to make this a success. Conferences as far away as Hurley donated goods. The group especially thanks David Fayard of Ace Data Storage for donating the semi-truck to carry aid to the greatly impacted community of Larose Louisiana. The truck was filled with twenty-six pallets of cleaning supplies and food. “With the memory of the destruction in our area after Hurricane Katrina,” said Mike Barry, president of the group, “we must always pay it for- ward. It was an honor to be able to bring smiles, hope, and relief to the people of Louisiana. In gratitude for their unselfish service to the people of our Diocese we invite our parishio- ners to join us in compiling a Spiritual Prayer Bouquet to be given to the clergy at their respective Convocations. We will take a few minutes at the end of each Mass this weekend to fill out special prayer forms.
