Gulf Pine Catholic • September 17, 2021 15 Our Lady of Fatima fourth grader Hartley Hicks is living out the Gospel of Christ through her acts of service. In her free time over the past several months, she has been making Goodie Bags for her mother's cancer patients. The items range from tissues and puzzles to hand-crafted ribbons, but they always contain a handwritten personal note of hope and spirituality. Her mother said that this random, small act of kindness moves some of her patients to tears. But Hartley gets even more pleasure out of doing it for them. Hartley uses her own money to provide these bags for the patients. Some of the patients have donated money to her, but she donates that money to the Memorial Oncology Fund. She is even turning it into a “Sister Act,” as she has recruited her younger sister, Holland, to help. Hartley Hicks displays the hand-crafted ribbons she gives in her Goodie Bags. Students in Pre-K 3 through sixth grade slid down a slide to find out which of the six Faith Houses would be theirs: Altruismo, Isibindi, Matalino, Solide, Gamarada, or Veritas. That afternoon, all the Houses met for a House Party to learn about their House and meet their housemates! Students will remain in their House for their entire time at Sacred Heart and will participate in house activities and a school-wide House Cup, where they can earn points for behavior exemplifying an intentional disciple.
