Photo/Juliana Skelton Father Ignacio Jimenez installed as pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish, Laurel, and St. Bernadette Parish, Waynesboro St. Alphonsus Parish, Ocean Springs Rev. Michael Snyder of St. Alphonsus Parish in Ocean Springs conducted a dinner for married couples married over 50 years. Several parish couples were married over 60 years. The Knights of Columbus Council 5654 sponsored the dinner and awarded the Family of the Month to Elizabeth and Richard ( Dick) Eckert who will be married 60 years in 2020. Dick promoted Eucharist Adoration during Lent and for many years was a member and promoted religious vocations as a charter member of the Serra Club and John Paul II Committee and Knights of Columbus Council 5654 under the direction of Very Reverend Dennis Carver who served the Diocese of Biloxi as Vocation Director for nearly two decades, one of the longest serving in the nation. Dick would say the Diocese was blessed to have him. Dick organized seminarian fund raising tours on N.O. Creole Queen Paddlewheel River Boat, WW II Museum and Felicity and St. Joseph Plantations.
