March 21 St. Thomas Aquinas Irish-Italian Festival HATTIESBURG -- Great food, music, fellowship, and more will be on the menu for St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church’s 19th annual Irish-Italian Festival Saturday, March 21. The festival is from 5-10:30 p.m. at the church, following a 4 p.m. Mass.Admission to the festival is free, with tickets for food and drink items available for purchase at the entrance. The church is located at 3117 West Fourth St. The festival will feature games for kids, a silent auction and an art show fea- turing the work of some of the Pine Belt’s best local artists, including beautiful art- work by local school children. The menu for the event includes Irish stew, spaghetti and meatballs, sausage dogs, pizza, cotton candy and spirits, as well as a variety of desserts. March 25 Seder Supper at St. John the Evangelist GULFPORT -- A Seder Supper will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Presentation Hall on Wed., March 25, at 6 p.m. You are invited to experience the oldest festival of the Hebrew liturgical calendar, and learn how and when the Mass was instituted. This is a dinner and a story that passes on impor- tant Biblical truths about Jesus and the last day of his life. The only requirement is to bring a covered dish to help complete the meal. March 27-29 2020 Catholic Charismatic Healing Conference NEW ORLEANS, LA -- The annual Southern Regional Conference of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal scheduled for March 27-29, will be held at the Copeland Tower Suites and Conference Center in Metairie, LA. The conference theme is “Thy Kingdom Come.” Conference speakers include Sr. Briege McKenna, an Irish nun with a worldwide ministry of praying for healing for the past 50 years; Fr John Gordon, a popular con- ference speaker from the Archdiocese of Newark; Fr. Beau Charbonnet, pastor, dynamic preacher, youth leader and musi- cian; Jean and Janice Charbonnet, teachers on marriage and family; Danny Loar of Baton Rouge, with a powerful healing tes- timony; Alex Lorio, youth leader, high school teacher and track coach. March 28 Reflections on Holy Week: A Concert/Service BILOXI -- The Music and Fine Arts Ministry of Nativity BVM Cathedral offers a very special program for Lent entitled: Reflections on Holy Week , Sat., March 28, 3 p.m.. This is the first offering of the Cathedral’s 2020 concert series. This pro- gram portrays the various spiritual, sub- stantial events of Jesus’ Journey to Jerusalem and ultimately to the Cross and reflects upon his last utterances there. These scriptural “lessons” will be shared and then enhanced with choral musical “shadows” reflective of the depth of the moment and the meaning of the sacrifice. The hour-long program will be pre- sented by Nativity BVM Cathedral’s Civic Choral Society -- “Gloria In Excelsis” along with Mobile, Alabama’s, “Mobile Vocal Arts” Choral Society and members of the Adult Choir of Touro Synagogue of New Orleans, Louisiana. The concert ser- vice/massed choir will be under the direc- tion of Terry D. Maddox, M.M., the Cathedral’s Minister of Music, Director of Fine Arts. The program is free and open to the public. May 1 St. Joseph Golf Tournament POPLARVILLE -- St. Joseph Catholic Church is sponsoring their second annual golf tournament on May 1 at the Diamondhead Country Golf Club. This year’s tournament will be held on Diamondhead’s Pine Golf Course. A $400 fee for a foursome, includes 18 holes of golf, cart, chances to win great prizes, including a brand-new Ford vehicle, morn- ing coffee & donuts, lunch (hamburger, baked beans, potato salad & fresh baked cookie) and first, second and third place award presentations at the end of the day.
