Gulf Pine Catholic • May 31, 2019 17 There will be a Cursillo de Cursillo held July 12-14 at the Kelley Retreat Center, Bay St. Louis. Cursillo de Cursillos, what is it? Simply stated, it is a course on the Foundational Charism of Cursillo for Cursillistas who are searching for something beyond the Cursillo Weekend course. In order to help Cursillistas with a thorough knowledge of the Charism, a special course called Cursillo de Cursillos was developed by Eduardo Bonnín. Cursillo de Cursillos is a course that has provided Cursillistas with a treasure of knowledge and a living experience of what is essential in the mentality, pur- pose, and methodology of the Movement. The course is offered to those Cursillistas who have the desire to be effective Christian leaders. This course has provided many Cursillistas with an opportunity to discover the immense possibilities that Cursillo has to offer the per- son and the Church. Cursillo de Cursillos has helped many Cursillistas delve into the technical elements of the Movement in light of its Charism. This course uses a schedule and format similar to the Cursillo Weekend. There will be a Married Couples Weekend, where at least one spouse has previously made a Cursillo week- end, July 26-28 which will be held at the Kelley Retreat Center in Bay St. Louis. The lead xouple will be Diana and Stuart Suffern, Most Holy Trinity, Pass Christian. There will be a Co-Ed Arise #10 on October 4-6 at the Kelley Retreat Center, Bay St. Louis. Arise is a retreat weekend geared toward non-Catholics who are curious about the Catholic Church, non-Catholic spous- es of Catholics, fallen-away Catholics who want to come back, RCIA candidates and any Catholics who want to learn more about the Catholic Church. You can attend an Arise multiple times if you desire. For more information about the Cursillo Movement, contact us at: The Catholic Cursillo Movement of South Mississippi -- Biloxi Diocese. Among the many highlights of this trip is the Oberammergau Passion Play, which only takes place every ten years. The History of the World Famous Oberammergau Passion Play In the 17th Century, the black plague ravaged Europe killing one third of its population. The people of Oberammergau prayed to be spared, vowing that every decade they would present a play depicting the Passion of Jesus Christ. Generation after generation of villagers have kept the vow since 1634. The story unravels before your eyes from His triumphal entry into Jerusalem to His resurrec- tion. The roles have been passed on from father to son, mother to daughter, strictly adhering to the traditions of the forefathers. This is an event to behold, so do not miss it, and join Father Tommy Conway and The Gulf Pine Catholic on this REGINATOURS Pilgrimage celebrating its fourth season at Oberammergau. “I have always wanted to see the passion play in person,” said Father Conway. “This really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I hope you will join me for this very special commemoration of Fr. Tommy Conway the Lord’s suffering, death and resurrection.” Tour of Italy After departing Germany, the tour will con- tinue to Italy with stops in Bolzano, Padua, Venice, Florence, Assisi and Rome. The Vatican, and its glorious art treasures, will be a highlight of the stay in Rome. View the vast collection of art and antiquities in the Vatican Museums. Your guide will lead you to the Sistine Chapel through a portion of these treasures such as the Candelabra Gallery where you can admire the Greek-Roman art, the tapes- tries with the most extraordinary Flemish works and the map gallery with exceptional geographi- cal details. Visit the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo’s ceiling fresco depicting the his- tory of the creation and the Last Judgement overlooks Italian art masterpieces. Visit St. Peter’s Basilica, surrounding the world’s largest church. While Bernini designed most of works found in the church, Michelangelo’s Pietà is also housed here. These are just some of the highlights of the trip, which is being sponsored by the Gulf Pine Catholic . Cost is $5,498 from New Orleans (based on double occupancy).
