Gulf Pine Catholic • May 31, 2019 16 Our Lady Academy BAY ST. LOUIS -- Our Lady Academy’s Graduation Mass was cel- ebrated on day, May 24, at Our Lady of the Gulf Church in Bay St. Louis. There were thirty-five graduates in the Class of 2019, and Bishop Louis F. Kihneman, III, was the principal celebrant. Georgia Avery Zanca , daughter of Andrea Simp- son Zanca and David Zanca, was named Valedicto- rian of Our Lady Academy’s Class of 2019. She has achieved Principal’s Honor Roll throughout high school. While at Our Lady Academy, she was a mem- ber of National Junior Society, National Honor So- ciety, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and recognized as an AP Scholar with Honors. She was involved in various community services such as: The Humane Society of Southern Mississip- pi, Dress A Girl Around the World (designed dresses for mission trips through Hope 4 Women Internation- al), and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. At Our Lady Academy she was a member of the St. Stanislaus Diamond Girls, Kairos Retreat Team, and participated in the March for Life in Washington, D.C. She was also a key member and lettered in the OLA Cross Country and Track and Field teams. Georgia plans to study journalism, communica- tions and creative writing at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, where she was awarded the Pepperdine Grant. She was accepted into the Univer- sity of Mississippi Honors College and offered the Chucky Mullins Scholarship, the Red and Blue Grant and the Academic Excellence Scholarship. She was admitted to the University of California San Diego, the University of California Santa Barbara, offered a position on the University of California Berkeley waitlist for the 2019-2020 academic year, and ac- cepted into the University of Southern California An- nenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Isabelle Marie Gelpi , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Gelpi, is the Salutatorian of Our Lady Acade- my High School’s Class of 2019. She has achieved Honor Roll status throughout high school. She was involved in various extracurricular clubs and sports at OLA such as: Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, vice president of National Art Honor Soci- ety, Spanish Honor Society and Secretary of National Honor Society. She has been a member of the varsity Cross Country and Track and Field teams since sev- enth grade competing at the state level several times. Isabelle has been involved with various commu- nity organizations and activities such as: Arts Alive, Blue House Youth Art Group, Clay Creations, King’s Kitchen, Buddy Ball, Saint Gerard Women’s Center, Camp Gumbo and District of Youth Episcopal Dio- cese of MS. Isabelle has also achieved art accolades such as: first place in the Community Beautification Trash Can Art Contest & Service Blast, and second place in the Gail Keenan 2019 Art Exhibit. Isabelle is thrilled to attend College of Charleston in the fall as a member of the Honors College. She plans to study visual art and business finance with an Academic Scholarship and Merit Award. She was awarded the Dusti Bongé Art Foundation Scholarship and the Dana Hebert Art Scholarship. She was of- fered admission to Savannah College of Art and De- sign with an Academic Merit Scholarship. She was also admitted to the Leeds School of Business Hon- ors Program at University of Colorado Boulder with a Chancellor’s Scholarship, Loyola New Orleans with a President’s Scholarship, Loyola Marymount Uni- versity with an Arrupe Scholarship and LMU Award, and Furman University with a Bell Tower Scholar- ship. The University of Mississippi offered Isabelle admission to the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College with an Academic Merit Scholarship, Circle Award, 1848 and APEX Scholarship. Members of Our Lady Academy 2019 graduating class are: Valedictorian, Georgia Zanca and Saluta- torian, Isabelle Gelpi, Kati Albright, Samantha Ar- cana, Rosalie Beckham, Sarah Boudreaux, Madison Bradley, Isabella Breisacher, Cecilia Cottone, Han- na Dawley, Marguerite Gelpi, Olivia Gelpi, Hunter Grimes, Aubrey Harrison, Kennady Hertz, Alexis Hollis, Katherine Ingram, Lauren Kalom, Margaret Kergosien, Madison Ladner, Abigail LaRosa, Kather- ine Logan, Kamryn Longo, Sierra McArthur, Corynn McCombs, Elizabeth Mirandy, Wallis Mortillaro, Hannah Pitalo, Taylor Slade, Madden Trapani, Mar- garet Spencer White, Anna Wittmann, Isabel Wolf, Victoria Wolf, and Torey Wood.
