SPCHS Class of 2020 member Alaina Olsen recent- ly attended the Electric Cooperatives of Mississippi Youth Leadership Program in Jackson. She represented Coast Electric Power Association with three other stu- dents from Coastal Mississippi, including Caleb Bergmann, Jordan Calomese, and Mary Thames. During the program, Alaina took part in a leadership workshop, enjoyed a first-hand look at our state gov- ernment in action, sharpened her leadership skills, and heard presentations from government leaders, local business leaders and rural electric cooperative profes- sionals. During her time spent at the State Capitol, she and her peers met with Rep. Greg Haney, Rep. Patricia Willis and Senator Philip Moran. On the opportunity, she said, “The most interesting aspect of the experience was meeting students from all over the state and connecting so quickly with them. Everyone was from a different area or school in Mississippi, but we came together to work on some amazing plans for our communities. Now, when I make daily or big decisions, I think of how the friends I made there would approach it. On the second day, I learned a lot about teamwork as we participated in exercises with Elyon Ministries, and I find myself delegating and con- sidering others more. I am very grateful for the advisors and for the board at Coast Electric for allowing me to grow in my leadership skills.” St. Patrick High School, Biloxi Diana Holderʼs and Ann Edwardsʼ second grade classes sponsored the St. Joseph Altar at St. James Catholic School. Before the celebration, the second graders visited each class in the school and handed out a blessed fava bean and St. Joseph medal, a St. Joseph prayer card, and a bag of twisted pretzels. Heavenly Father, bless Your Church with an abundance of holy and zealous priests, deacons, brothers and sisters. Give those You have called to the married state and those You have chosen to live as single persons in the world the special graces that their lives require. Form us all in the likeness of Your Son so that in Him, with Him and through Him we may love You more deeply and serve you more faithfully, always and everywhere. With Mary, we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. Prayer for Vocations
