The Brothers of the Sacred Heart worldwide will soon celebrate the 200th anniversary of their founding in Lyon, France, by FatherAndre Coindre, who received the vows of the first 10 brothers in 1821. To mark this year's anniversary, the student body of 378 celebrated its annual Foundation Day Mass in Our Lady of the Gulf Church September 25. The celebrant, Father Gregory Daigle of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, an alumnus of the Brothers, told his vocation story and the impact of the Brothers on his life. The five brothers from the Saint Stanislaus com- munity were honored: Brothers Barry Landry, presi- dent; Bernard Couvillion, campus minister; Eduardo Baldioceda, math and computer teacher; Raymond Sylve, facilities maintenance, and Francis Fleming, retired. Senior ‟big brothers” met their seventh grade ‟little brothers” this month, and spent two class periods play- ing games, talking, and getting to know each other. A spirited dodgeball game in the Blaize Gym attracted the majority of big brother/little brother pairs, while others played pool and ping-pong in the senior lounge. A few others headed to the library for board games, including giant-sized Scrabble. Pictured are James Johnson and principal Gary Blackburn. Saint Stanislaus seniors gathered at Our Lady of the Gulf Church this month to have their class rings blessed. The annual ‟Ring Mass” is one of the oldest and most important traditions at Saint Stanislaus. St. Stanislaus College, Bay St. Louis Our Lady Academy, Bay St. Louis On September 21 Our Lady Academy held a special celebration honoring the students’ grandparents and grand friends at Our Lady of the Gulf Church. The Mass was celebrated by Father Michael O’Connor. This annual OLA tradition offers the students the opportunity to express their appreciation for their grandparents’ love, time and support. This year there were over 200 grandparents and grand friends present at the celebration. After the Mass, a reception was held at Our Lady of the Gulf Community Center. “I look forward every year to this OLA tradition that affords me the special time to spend with my granddaughter. The Mass was beautiful and the reception was perfect,” said Marie Reboul.
