Right, the Altar Society teamed up with the volleyball team from Our Lady Academy in Bay St. Louis, to hand out the sack lunches on Sept. 8. Fr. Jacob-Matthew Smith, OFM, parochial admin- istrator/pastor of St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland, blesses animals brought by parishioners as part of Blessing of the Animals, a prelude to the celebration of the Feast of St. Francis on Oct. 4. More than 25 pets were blessed on Sept. 30. Waveland Mayor Mike Smith (left) and Jim Meggett, chairman of the planning and zoning commission for the city Waveland and also in charge of “Keeping Waveland Beautiful,” assist St. Clare children Madelyn Sullivan and Dolly Shulz in placing one of the three plaques on the three palm trees the children purchased through their own Sunday offerings. One plaque was placed remembering those who were never born, one stating the trees were being planted by the children of St. Clare, and the third remembering those who have lost loved ones. St. Clare Parish, Waveland Fr. Jacob-Matthew Smith, OFM, parochial administrator/pastor at St. Clare in Waveland, gathers with parishioners to bless the new statue of St. Francis as part of celebrating the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi on Oct. 4. Fr. Jacob-Matthew offered a blessing with a relic of St. Francis immediately following the ceremony. Bill Kane, a member of Knights of Columbus Council 16433 at St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland, puts the finishing touches on the grave marker for Gregory Morgan, who passed away in April of this year. Bill completed the brick work and placed the marker at the request of the family, parishioners at St. Ann’s in Claremont Harbor. Bill’s knowledge of masonry work comes from time spent as a SeaBee in the Navy.
