Oct. 21 Festa Italiana PASS CHRISTIAN -- Holy Family Church and St. Vincent de Paul School will host “Festa Italiana” , an afternoon of Italian-themed family entertainment sponsored by the Mississippi Society of Italian Americans (MS SOFIA) on Sun., Oct. 21, 12 noon-6 p.m. The main attraction is a “Famous Italian Characters Parade” in which the public can dress up as any famous Italian characters from any media, any era, real or animated. Two grand prizes of meals and lodging will be awarded to the most authentic characters by the Silver Slipper and Palace Casinos. Other attractions include selfies with Rocky Balboa, an Italian wedding cook- ie cake dance, bocce games, an Italian dinner of baked ziti, meatballs, salad, bread, pizzelle and drink for $12 ($6 for ages 5-12), and meatball sandwiches ($6). John Noone to speak at Immaculate Conception LAUREL -- The Religious Education Ministry at Immaculate Conception delighted to announce that Father John Noone will be their guest speaker at their next monthly Bible Study scheduled on Sun., Oct. 21 after the 9 a.m. Mass at the Parish Hall. The event is informal and by popular request, the topic will be about purgatory. This topic presents a wonder- ful opportunity to learn about the subject matter and what Catholics believe about purgatory. It is also the hope of ministry volunteers to give the local community the opportunity to get to know their Catholic friends and neighbors. Coffee and refreshments will be provided and we will have a brunch-style potluck. The event is free and open to anyone who wishes to learn about Catholicism.
