Ki- hneman, III, was principal celebrant and hom- ilist for Sacred Heart Catholic School’s Graduation liturgy on May 19 in the Bennett Auditorium on the Campus of the University of Southern Mississippi. Paul Thomas , Valedictorian, has attended Sacred Heart since Pre-K. He is a member of the Math Team, Mu Alpha Theta and Beta Club. He received cum laude honors for Latin 1 and 2. Paul played football, soccer and golf, and participated in track at Sacred Heart. As a senior, Paul received academic awards in AP English, AP U.S. Government, Economics, Phys- ics, Environmental Science and Religion. He was voted Mr. SHS and Class Scholar. Paul was named a Distinguished AP Scholar for scoring a 4.0 or high- er on at least three AP exams. He will graduate as a Mississippi Scholar. Paul is a member of St. Fabian Catholic Church. He plans to attend Millsaps and ma- jor in Biochemistry and pre-med studies. Paul is the son of Catherine and Trey Thomas of Hattiesburg. Nicholas Gallardo , Salutatorian, has attended Sa- cred Heart since Pre-K. He is the president of Mu Al- pha Theta, Captain of the Math and Science Team and placed at state and regional competition as a member of FBLA. Nicholas serves as treasurer of the Step Up Council and has completed over 300 hours of service with the Americorps program. In eleventh grade he was selected for the Crusader Award and attended Mississippi Boys State. He has been a member of the baseball team since ninth grade. Nicholas was also on the basketball and cross country teams from seventh to tenth grade. As a senior, Nicholas was named Sa- cred Heart’s DAR Good Citizen Award winner and received local and national scholarships from Dixie Youth Baseball. He received the AP Calculus Award and Dual Credit Zoology Awards, and was voted Best All-Around and Most Likely to Succeed. He is gradu- ating as a Mississippi Scholar. Nicholas is an active member, usher and Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He will attend Wake Forest University and major in Biology as a pre-med stu- dent. Nicholas is the son of Cindy and Mark Gallardo of Hattiesburg. Sacred Heart High School BAY ST. LOUIS -- Our Lady Academy’s Graduation Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 25, at Our Lady of the Gulf Church in Bay St. Louis. There were thirty graduates in the Class of 2018, and Bishop Louis F. Kihneman, III, was the principal celebrant. Abby Guy , Valedictorian, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Guy, is the Valedictorian of Our Lady Academy’s Class of 2018. Abby has achieved Principal’s Honor Roll throughout high school. While at Our Lady Academy, Abby was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honor Society (secretary), National Honor Society, Rotary Service Interact Club (public relations officer), Ambassador Program (vice president) and served as senior class vice president. Abby has received recognition for achieving the highest average and excellence in government and is the recipient of the PresidentialAward for Outstanding Excellence. Abby served on the Hope Haven Child Advocacy Center’s Teen Board and travelled internationally as the Europe Ambassador for People to People. She was named National Scholar Society Leadership Ambassador, National American Miss Mississippi Junior Teen and selected to partake in the U.S. Senate Youth Program and the Summer Program on Developmental Psychology at Emory University. In 2016, Abby was awarded the Gold Level of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award and received the Certificate of Commendation from the Mayor for Volunteer Service. She was awarded the Emily de Montluzin Foreign Language Scholarship to further her studies of a major in International Relations and a double minor in Spanish and French. Abby stated, “Our Lady Academy has provided me with an environment of love and support which has been essential to the development of my academ- ics, spiritual life, and overall character. I know that not only do my classmates and I have a solid founda- tion to build our futures upon, but also a place and group of people that we can always come home to. I have my parents to thank for all they have sacrificed to gift me with this caliber of an all-around Catholic education.” Abby will attend Oxford College of Emory University for her first two years before attending the Atlanta campus of Emory University. Camille Martin , Salutatorium, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Martin, is the Salutatorian of OLA’s class of 2018. She has remained on the Principal’s Honor Roll throughout high school. While at OLA, Camille was a member of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, Campus Youth Ministry (vice president), Interact Club Rotary Service and the Soccer Team. She was a member of the Retreat Team and served as a Eucharistic minister and a Kairos Retreat group leader. Camille has received recognition for outstanding performance and excellence in AP English Language and Composition, Economics, AP Calculus, and AP Psychology and is the recipient of the Presidential Award for Outstanding Excellence. “My past six years at Our Lady Academy have been filled with friendship, laughter, learning, and growing in my relationship with God. I am extremely blessed that my parents chose to send me to OLA because these characteristics truly cannot be found anywhere else. I would not trade my time at this school for anything, and I already cannot wait to come back and visit,” expressed Camille. Camille will attend the University of Mississippi in the fall.
