Jaelyn Harris crowned the Virgin Mary at the beginning of 9 a.m. Mass to honor the woman chosen by God to bare His son, Jesus. Mary is also a reminder for us to always say ʽYes’ to God just as she did so long ago. Our Mother of Mercy Parish, Pass Christian Ten new Cursillistas joined the ranks of the Catholic Cursillo Movement of South Mississippi May 3-6 as they completed Cursillo #274 at the Kelley Retreat Center in Bay St. Louis. The new Cursillistas are: Vance Adolf, Our Lady of the Gulf, Bay St. Louis; Paul Batia, St. Clare, Waveland; Jim Broussard, Sacred Heart, Pascagoula; Clifford Green, Our Lady of the Gulf, Bay St. Louis; Kevin Keller, St. Rita, Harahan, LA; Giovanni Miserendino, Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Chalmette, LA; John Stauter, Our Lady of Fatima, Biloxi; Stuart Suffern, Most Holy Trinity, Pass Christian; Grant Tingstrom, St. Clare, Waveland; and Gerald Webre, St. Clement of Rome, Metarie, LA. Spiritual Advisors for the weekend were: Fr. Michael O’Connor and Deacon Mike Harris, both of Our Lady of the Gulf, Bay St. Louis. The next Women’s Cursillo will be held at the Kelley Retreat Center in Bay St. Louis on June 21-24. Melanie Martin, Sacred Heart, Pascagoula, will be the Rectora and Annette Spiriti, St. Ann, Hurley, will be the Co-Rectora. Spiritual advisors will be Fr. Godfrey Andoh, Our Mother of Sorrows/Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos parishes, Biloxi; and Deacon Warren Goff, Sacred Heart, Hattiesburg. The next Men’s Cursillo will be held at Dedeaux on Sept. 27-30. David Kopszywa, St. Michael, Biloxi, will be the Rector and Michael Werda, Our Lady of the Gulf, Bay St. Louis, will be the Co-Rector. Spiritual advisors will be Fr. Mark Ropel, St. Thomas Aquinas, Hattiesburg; and Deacon Karl Koberger, St. Joseph, Gulfport. There will be a Co-Ed Arise #7 on June 29-July 1 at the Kelley Retreat Center, Bay St. Louis. Co-leaders are Christa Hedman, Sacred Heart, D’Iberville; and Jimmy Smith, St. Michael, Biloxi. Spiritual advisors will be Fr. Colten Symmes, Nativity BVM, Biloxi; and Deacon Jim Gunkel, St. Alphonsus, Ocean Springs. Arise is a retreat weekend geared toward non-Catholics who are curious about the Catholic Church, non-Cath- olic spouses of Catholics, fallen-away Catholics who want to come back, RCIA candidates and any Catholics who want to learn more about the Catholic Church. You can attend an Arise multiple times if you desire. There will be a Married Couples Retreat (at least one member of the couple must have made a Cursillo weekend) July 20-22 at the Kelley Retreat Center.
