MS Power customers who are homeowners can apply for this program to increase the energy efficiency of their home. Catholic Charities completes and submits appli- cations so that Mississippi Power may complete the home modifications if approved. Representative Payee Program -- Catholic Charities serves as Representative Payee for individu- als who are unable to appropriately manage their Social Security benefits. Catholic Charities receives the indi- vidual’s Social Security benefits, ensures that all of their basic bills are paid and provides a monthly or weekly allowance to the individual. To have a payee, an individual must be deemed incompetent by a judge due to mental challenges, traumatic brain injuries, etc. Disaster Relief and Recovery -- This program pro- vides services to those affected by both declared and undeclared disasters. Through disaster case manage- ment, we work with clients to help them return to or obtain safe housing. We can also consider assistance with essential personal property. We are currently working with those affected by January’s Pine Belt tornado, but also help those affected by localized flood- ing, house fires, etc. Catholic Charities is blessed to be able to provide these essential services because of the support of the parishioners of the Diocese of Biloxi through Catholic Sharing Appeal, private donations, and grants from the State of Mississippi, City of Gulfport, City of Pascagoula, MGM Resorts Foundations, Mississippi Power Project Share, Coast Electric Share Your Blessings, Singing River EPA Neighbors Helping Neighbors, United Way for Jackson and George Counties, United Way of South Mississippi, Catholic Charities USA, Choose Life of Mississippi, and the Catholic Legal Immigration Network. We are thankful to serve on behalf of the people of the Diocese of Biloxi and will continue our mission to serve people more instead of simply serving more people. Pray for an increase of vocations to the priesthood, to the diaconate, and to the religious life, especially in the Diocese of Biloxi.
