16 Gulf Pine Catholic • April 6, 2018 Holy Week at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral 2018 was Bishop Louis F. Kihneman’s first Holy Week as bishop of Biloxi. Bishop Kihneman celebrated the Palm Sunday Vigil Mass at the cathedral. He is pictured entering the cathedral as children of the parish hold palm branches. The bishop is assisted, at left, by Deacon “Buddy” Ernest VanCourt On Tuesday of Holy Week, priests of the diocese joined Bishop Kihneman and Bishop Roger Morin for the Chrism Mass, where they renewed their commitment to priestly service. Bishop Kihneman also blessed the holy oils -- the Oil of Catechumens and Oil of the Sick -- and consecrated the Chrism, which were distributed to parishes for use throughout the coming year. On Holy Thursday, the bishop washes the feet of parishioners, including Linda Stewart. On Good Friday, the bishop holds the cross as Mike Bruffey venerates it.
