22 Gulf Pine Catholic • March 23, 2018 On March 6, history came to life at Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary as third through sixth grade students participated in a ‟Famous Americans Wax Museum” to raise money for Catholic Relief Services. Students dressed up and regaled visitors with stories of America's past from its founding to the present era. Sacred Heart Elementary Students celebrated Dr. Seuss Week February 26-March 2. Students celebrated the life of Dr. Seuss by eating eggs and ham, participating in a parade of Dr. Seuss characters, and were visited by the Grinch. Sacred Heart Elementary, D’Iberville Rush Hewes, a fourth grade student at St. James School, placed second in the 2018 State Reading Fair. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) recently received donated student artwork from St. James Catholic School for their upcoming fundraiser at the Beau Rivage in March. Ginger Norton and Sharon Gargiulo visited with Terese Nicovich’s sixth grade class during art and explained what they do and how CASA functions. The donated artwork is part of our “Art Serves: For the Children/By the Children” grant we received where first-sixth graders donate their artwork to facilities that help children who are hurting emotionally, mentally, or physically. St. James Elementary, Gulfport Students in third grade at St. James Catholic School designed and created Valentine cards for Bryce Kettner’s father, Mark Kettner, who is currently deployed with the United States Air Force. The third graders from Stacie Barrient’s and Mrs. Carmen Peters’ classes also collected food and other items to send along with the cards in a care package.
