Who’s News Shane Seitz joined CBRE’s Health- care Capital Markets team as a senior vice president. Based in Denver, Seitz will join Chris Bodnar and Lee Asher, vice chairmen of the company, to focus on debt and equity structuring for its health care and life sciences cli- ents. Seitz joins the firm from Ventas, a leading health care real estate investment trust, which he joined in 2011 as part of the Nationwide Health Properties acquisition. With more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience, Seitz has completed more than $10 billion in transactions encom- passing all types of health care facilities, including medical office, life science, senior housing and hospitals in both the United States and the United King- dom. His expertise in structuring highly complex debt and equity assignments will enhance the firm’s capabilities in the health care real estate sector. Seitz received his Bachelor of Busi- ness Administration in real estate and urban development, and market- ing from University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and a Master of Business Administration from University of Colorado Denver. ▲ Moraine Byrne joined WellAge Senior Communities as the senior vice presi- dent of operations. Byrne brings 25 years of experi- ence as executive and consultant in the senior living real estate field, special- izing in management and development consultant for new properties, products and services. Prior to joining WellAge, Byrne most recently served as president and CEO of Moraine Byrne Asso- ciates, a consulting firm that provides strategic planning, operations audits and management insight, marketing and partnership planning for business- es, with a special focus on senior living and senior health care. Byrne’s professional experience includes successful management of senior housing, health care adminis- tration, marketing and start-up of a variety of senior services, including affordable housing, assisted living, residential communities, home health care, subacute facilities and continuing care retirement communities. Byrne will oversee the firm’s involvement with five new senior living develop- ments under construction throughout Colorado and other new business opportunities. ▲ Balfour Senior Living expanded its senior leadership team with the addi- tion of Phill Barklow as chief operating officer and Sara Thom as vice president of human resources. Barklow is Balfour’s first-ever COO with more than 20 years of experience working in senior living. Prior to joining the company, Barklow served in leadership positions at high-end senior living communities across Southern California. Barklow attended Fresno State University where he stud- ied gerontology with an emphasis in business. Thom joined the company with 15 years of experience directing human resources and tal- ent management across a diverse group of industries. She received her Bachelor of Science from Min- nesota State Univer- sity and her Master of Arts in human resources and change leadership from the University of Saint Thomas. ▲ Regina Serna joined DLR Group as a national business development leader for the firm’s health care practice. She works collab- oratively with DLR Group design teams to build the firm’s portfolio and ensure clients receive the best possible service. Serna is based in the Denver studio. Serna has spent her career assessing strategic mar- kets for both current and future trends. ▲ A $1.6 million renovation and rebranding program was completed at the V-Esprit inde- pendent living community.
