66 / BUILDING DIALOGUE / September 2019 After a complete renovation, Interior Environ- ments recently moved into Engine House No. 5 in downtown Denver. The LEED Platinum Engine House No. 5 building was renovated early this year using IA Interior Ar- chitects and is now home to the Interior Environ- ments staff and showroom. The 20-year-old Michigan-based IE used blended concepts of hospitality, wellness and an element of fun to provide its team with a variety of settings to best support the work they are doing on any given day. The design includes a rooftop used weekly for yoga, two café areas for downtime or group collabo- ration, and an innovation lab fully equipped with a golf simulator that doubles as an amazing meeting space as well as a late afternoon hangout. “We love creating spaces for others,” said Jamie May, principal of Interior Environments. “We did what we are seeing so many of our clients wanting. We took the building down to the original core and opened up the space.” Interior Environments worked with its inter- nal workplace strategist to create a flexible design using demountable walls and modular systems to delineate work areas that suit the many types of meetings and workspaces needed. “Like our clients, we wanted open space with the ability to quickly change for growth. “Most of our employees don’t have a single ded- icated workstation; they can work in the kind of space that best supports the type of work they are doing,” May said. \\ Interior Environments Moves into Engine House No. 5 1. The Innovation Lab not only serves as a fun place to work on your swing but can be used for virtual reality tours of clients spaces. 2. Allsteel modular walls create many different types of spaces from phone rooms to offices to large technology spaces. 3. A beautiful café can hold any size gathering or function. 4. The growing Denver team enjoys spending time together in the upper level of their space. 5.
