Molson Coors: A New Design on Tap
Working with an iconic brand like Molson Coors requires a respect for the company’s
history as well as a clear vision for where they want to go. Both are evident in Mol-
son Coors’ newly consolidated 67,000-square-foot corporate headquarters at 1801
California St. in Denver. International architecture, planning and design firm RNL
recently completed the interior design and lighting work on the project.
“Everything about this design immerses you in the Molson Coors brand – from a wall
lined in upcycled beer barrels to custom tap handle door pulls,” said Sarah McGarry,
senior interior designer at RNL and project design lead. “That immersive experience
starts with the 3,000-square-foot pub that greets you on entry.”
The pub features stunning views of the Rocky Mountains (a nod to the Coors logo
and reminder of the brand’s Colorado heritage), seating with locally made tables and
a copper-clad bar below a lit bottle rack featuring Molson Coors brands. The space
accommodates up to 200 people for business or social events.
“It’s a perfect example of how a space can be highly functional while also exempli-
fying and enhancing a company’s culture,” McGarry said.
On the workspace side, RNL’s Lighting team provided a cutting-edge design to max-
imize daylight and support employee wellbeing. Offices were moved to the interior,
where glass fronts and sliding doors allow for light and additional transparency.
The design ultimately celebrates the unique culture of the company while also help-
ing Molson Coors realize increased workspace efficiencies as they consolidated their
operations into one centralized location.
